or ‘Alliance’ provisions, as in the 2007 survey.
The survey questionnaire also sought to identify any ‘Other Partnering
Agreements/Contracts specifically drafted for use in Partnering’. Although, in 2004 this
question had solicited a further 11 project responses, no further instances were noted in
either the 2007 or 2010 surveys.
The survey suggests that partnering arrangements peaked in 2004. 116 projects (5.0%
of the total) worth a total of £316m (10.4% of the total) were recorded as using some form
of partnering.
In 2007 only 53 projects (3.9% of the sample) employed a partnering contract or used
some subsidiary partnering agreement, accounting for 7.1% of the sample value
(excluding one very high value Prime Contracting project). In 2010 the number of
projects involving partnering dropped to 19 (just 1.9% of the sample), adding up to £37m
(just 2.2% of the total sample value).
Chart 23 shows the percentage of each contract value range using a Partnering
Agreement or Arrangement. Contracts in the range of £5-10m are the most likely to have
used some partnering arrangement as was the case in 2007.
