LIFETIME
In 1982 the freight markets being in the
doldrums and very hard times were faced,
particularly in Germany with the heavy taxes
that had to be paid even during the years when
only "losses were produced".
It was December 1986 when he took
another big plunge and Reederei "NORD"
Klaus E. Oldendorff Ltd. was born here in
Limassol, Cyprus.
Through the years Mr. Oldendorff
became well known on the island and was
respected by all, as anyone who knew him had
a lot to learn from him. Among many other
achievements, he made his mark in the
Cyprus Shipping Industry. Not only did he
make our company a Founding Member
of the Cyprus Shipping Council,
but he was the driving force
behind the establishment and
subsequent building-up of
it and as such, he served many times as
President of the Council and was
later even declared Honorary President.
Sadly, as you all well know,
Mr. Oldendorff is no longer with us.
However, he is still in our memory and soul.
All his visions, hard work, determination and
achievements have been embedded in all of his
employees, giving us the strength, will and
endurance to continue this success story.
Since the 17th of March 2003, after
the sad demise of Mr. Oldendorff, the
company under the skillful guidance of
Mrs. Christiane E. Oldendorff, has continued
to grow. The two companies -
Reederei "NORD" Klaus E. Oldendorff GmbH
in Hamburg and Reederei "NORD"
Klaus E. Oldendorff Ltd. in Limassol -
now operate a total fleet of 36 ships.
In addition, seven newbuildings are on
order which will allow us consistent and
prosperous growth.
It is envisaged that one day
the helm of this remarkable company
will be handed over to the next generation,
Messrs Christian and Nikolaus Oldendorff,
the twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Oldendorff
as heirs apparent.
