MENA SPEAKS Survey 2012 New dataset designed for this study by World Bank <strong>and</strong><br />
Gallup Inc., <strong>and</strong> fielded as part of Gallup World Poll Survey<br />
on national representative samples of the population of<br />
Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan <strong>and</strong> Tunisia<br />
MENA SSN Inventory 2008–2011 New database of administrative SSN data, created for this<br />
study. A st<strong>and</strong>ard questionnaire template was formulated<br />
to obtain detailed information on SSN programs, including<br />
the number of beneficiaries <strong>and</strong> budgetary costs. The<br />
template was completed by triangulating desk reviews<br />
of relevant documents complemented by information<br />
obtained from government websites. This data collection<br />
was followed up by extensive consultation with World<br />
Bank focal points in the region <strong>and</strong>/or key informants<br />
in respective governments, including participants of<br />
the consultation workshops held in Beirut, Tunis, <strong>and</strong><br />
Oman. It is important to note that the data collected in<br />
the Inventory can differ from the latest official estimates.<br />
The Bank envisions this Inventory as a continuing data<br />
collection effort to stimulate ongoing monitoring of SSNs<br />
in the region, <strong>and</strong> encourages submission of updated<br />
information to the authors.<br />
