Full waterborne,<br />

chromate-free exterior<br />

system for Eurofighter<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>AkzoNobel</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Aerospace</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Coatings</str<strong>on</strong>g> have been working with Cassadian (Formerly known as<br />

EADS Defence and Security) to approve a full waterbased system for applicati<strong>on</strong> to the<br />

Eurofighter Typho<strong>on</strong> Aircraft.<br />

For the first time in the history of <str<strong>on</strong>g>AkzoNobel</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Aerospace</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Coatings</str<strong>on</strong>g> the <strong>com</strong>plete exterior of<br />

an aircraft was painted with waterbased<br />

coatings from the Aerowave Series. This<br />

<strong>com</strong>es <strong>on</strong> top of the Aerowave Series products<br />

being approved for structural applicati<strong>on</strong> and<br />

has taken nearly 5 years of testing and trials.<br />

The final step (applicati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> an aircraft) was<br />

taken with the painting of a Eurofighter Typho<strong>on</strong><br />

in Germany.<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>AkzoNobel</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Aerospace</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Coatings</str<strong>on</strong>g> have received<br />

recogniti<strong>on</strong> from Cassadian for a number of it’s<br />

Aerowave Next Generati<strong>on</strong> Waterborne Series<br />

products. Aerowave 2001 corrosi<strong>on</strong> inhibiting<br />

primer, Aerowave 2002, n<strong>on</strong>e inhibiting chrome<br />

free primer and Aerowave 5001 Polyurethane<br />

topcoat have been approved for the<br />

Eurofighter platform. The specificati<strong>on</strong>s involved<br />

are SP-J-513-A-0016 type 3 class A,<br />

SP-J-513-A-0013 type 3 class A and<br />

SP-J-513-0083 type 3 class A respectively.<br />

The Aerowave range will help Eurofighter<br />

reduce process times and with a VOC of<br />
