The emphasis on ergonomics and safety in the
transportation industry has given MDI-based
flexible foam technology an important role in the
design and manufacture of automotive interior
components. Flexible foam made from
HUNTSMAN’s MDI provides comfort and
performance, along with the processing ease
characteristic of MDI-based polyurethanes.
Polyurethanes are highly versatile and can be
manufactured in a wide range of grades, densities
and polymer stiffness. They can be used in
applications as varied as flexible foams for seating
to the rigid plastics used in door panels.
The properties and processing characteristics
of polyurethanes can be controlled by using the
appropriate isocyanate and co-reactant polyol for
a specific application, resulting in a polymer that
can be precision-formulated to meet the criteria of
each end-user.
