BAHLA — Citizens from the Wilayat of<br />

Nizwa yesterday held a variety of activities<br />

marking their delight at the presence<br />

of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos in the Dakhiliyah<br />

Governorate as part of the Royal<br />

meet-the-people <strong>to</strong>ur this year.<br />

More than 650 men and women from<br />

Nizwa <strong>to</strong>ok part in the national festivity<br />

dubbed “Festival of Love and Allegiance”.<br />

Folk troupes staged dances peculiar <strong>to</strong><br />

Nizwa, while more than 100 children<br />

showcased a tableau known as “Al Tahloola,<br />

Al Taimeema and Kasirat Suh”.<br />

The finale was a show of the dance arts<br />

of Al Maidan and Al Aazi, as well as laser<br />

shows.<br />

Meanwhile, horse race and pageants<br />

known as Rakdh al Ardha were organised<br />

by the people of Bahla at the Equestrian<br />

Square here. Equestrian clubs from the<br />

wilayats of Adam, Al Hamra and Manah<br />

Over 750 take part in popular celebration<br />

also <strong>to</strong>ok part in the event, held in celebration<br />

of His Majesty’s visit <strong>to</strong> the Dakhiliyah<br />

governorate.<br />

As part of the festival, horse men<br />

and cameleers <strong>to</strong>ok their positions at the<br />

square and chanted traditional songs, part<br />

of a folkloric art known as Fan Mahoreb.<br />

Camel riders performed Hambal al<br />

Boush dance art, which was followed by<br />

a slow march of camels and chanting of<br />

popular songs.<br />

Horse riders made a show of race<br />

rides and equestrian skills <strong>to</strong> the accompaniment<br />

of music concerts by the Royal<br />

Army of <strong>Oman</strong> band which staged patriotic<br />

songs.<br />

The celebration was attended by ministers<br />

accompanying His Majesty Sultan<br />

Qaboos during the Royal <strong>to</strong>ur, the Wali of<br />

Bahla, shaikhs and local dignitaries.<br />
