80 years of the SEA CLOUD:
The greatest
windjammer legend of all time.
At its launch in 1931, the SEA CLOUD was the most magnificent sailing yacht in
the world, a masterpiece of shipbuilding and the last private four-mast boat ever
to have been built. Every detail reveals the originality of that time; every extravagance
shows the charming individuality of its original owners, the millionaire
couple Marjorie Merriweather-Post and Edward Hutton. The chequered past of the
SEA CLOUD reads like an exciting novel in which a piece of world history has
been recorded.
2011 marks the start of another exciting chapter as our legend marks her 80th
birthday by leaving the shipyard in Bremerhaven in Germany to glide glamorously
back out to sea once again.
The ship will then sail down to the western Mediterranean, where the grande
dame of the seas invites you to join her in celebrating her 80th birthday on a
special cruise from Barcelona to Malta – featuring many wonderful birthday
events.
You will have no problem finding your own favourite place on this birthday cruise,
whether this is at the Blue Lagoon at the stern with a view over the open sea, or
the bench next to the bridge in the shadows of the front sail with the horizon

at sea we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of

said to have buried treasure on Roatán. The island’s other
treasures are more visible: dense rainforest, attractive beaches

Lamanai.*
Those who wish to discover the mysterious world of Belize
have the choice of two excursions: either a trip to the ruins

to the UNESCO Natural and Cultural Heritage Sites and

White Palace to celebrate the tenth birthday of the
RIVER CLOUD II.**
This evening, the White Palace will open its doors exclusively

rooms, great Venetian chandeliers and works of art, you
will gain an interesting insight into the Karadjordjevic
dynasty. After a private reception, enjoy an exclusive
concert in the Black and White Hall.

The transverse valley carved by the Danube, more than 100
kilometres (60 miles) long, is an impressive landscape that
will really take your breath away. The Kazan Gorge leads
to the Iron Gate, also known as Djerdap, which is at the
narrowest point of the gorge.
