WO LEBST DU?
Berlin
WARUM LEBST DU DORT?
I live here because it is the place I want to be right now and I have built the last
ten years of my life here.
BESCHREIBE DEINEN STYLE/DEINE ARBEIT
We specialise in multi-disciplinary design from temporary spaces ranging from corporate
events, theatre, fashion and art shows to club design as well as virtual spaces such as
film, print and video.
WIE ARBEITEST DU?
That depends on what kind of job we are working on. But we usually start by mindmapping,
reading, researching and watching films! Then we are probably ready to sketch
out an idea and start to produce it in detail.
WARUM MACHST DU DAS WAS DU MACHST?
Because I love it and it enables me to grow with others.

BIOGRAFIE
Leigh Haas, die Gründerin von flora&fauna visions wuchs in Schottland auf. Sie verbrachte
Ihre Jugend in Glsgow, wo sie Architektur studierte und Club Flyer für lokale Bands gestaltete.
Nach ihrem Abschluss an der School of Art in Glasgow, im Jahr 1993, zog sie nach
Berlin, wo sie seit dem lebt.
flora&fauna visions existiert seit 1998 und ist auf die Entwicklung von multidisciplinary
Design in der Umgebung spezialisiert, um eine Lösung zu entwickeln, die eine Marke unterstützen
und zu dem noch eine Mitteilung mit sich bringt.
Sie betarchten Design als einen emotionalen und aktiven Pozess in der Subkultur, ob es
nun spezielle Event-Projektionen, live Performance, Bühnenshows, Kunstinstellationen oder
Grafikdesign ist.
Über die letzten drei Jahre haben sie Respekt für ihr Design erworben, sei es kommerziell
oder nicht kommerziell, dies spiegelt sich in ihrer Arbeit mit vielen verschiedenen internationalen
Netzwerken und Szenen wieder.
flora&fauna hat in Ländern, wie zum Beispiel mit den USA, GB, Italien, Spanien, Kroatien,
Belgien und Russland, zusammengearbeitet.

WIE HAST DU ANGEFANGEN?
I started back in Scotland, where I grew up and went on to study architecture. I was
always interested in designing flyers and photographing bands etc. during my studies
and when I came to Berlin in 1994 I realised how much free space there was and began
working in the underground club scene where I established my interest in designing
temporary space.
WAS HAST DU GEMACHT ALS DU 15 WARST?
Well I argued a lot with a lot of different people, and I started getting my portfolio
in place for art school.
I took my first holiday without my family and I went to my first club for over 18´s.
WAS/WER SIND DEINE EINFLÜSSE?
Well of course my backbone was created through my family life and the way I was raised.
I think I was lucky as my parents really love me and always trusted and supported my ideas
in the end. I was also very influenced by my first serious boyfriend James. He was twice my
age and as far as I was concerned 5 times smarter!! We did a lot of crazy art projects
together back then and watched a lot of films and listened to music which influenced me
(like performace, repulsion, susperia, joy division, new order, the young gods, front 242,
the pixies, niravana and more). Great architecture also influenced me of course, too.
WAS/WER INSPIRIERT DICH ZUR ZEIT?
Im inspired right now mostly by the people around me, my friends and collegues and by
things that I read and by eliott smith and tons may.

WANN UND WIE KOMMEN DEINE IDEEN?
Mostly when I am walking down the street or when I am in the state between sleeping
and waking up. Sometimes they are just suddenly there. That is the moment when I reach
for a pen.
WAS WÜRDEST DU GERNE TUN, DAS DU ZUR ZEIT NICHT TUST?
Well I would like to be a little more careful in the future about keeping my private
life in shape.
I would like to learn to be a little more pragmatic in my decision making.
WARUM TUST DU ES NICHT?
Because I often tend to react spontaniously and emotionally straight from the stomach.
WAS IST SCHÖN?
Creative concepts which get produced, the sea, trust, achievement, growth, my friends,
my cat and all the things which add to happiness and peace.
WAS IST HÄSSLICH?
Religion, racism, anti-semitism. dishonesty, being caught in a loop,
the world when you feel alone.
WIE FÄHRST DU ZUR ARBEIT?
I usually walk or ride my bike.
BESCHREIBE EINEN TYPISCHEN TAG
I can’t.
BESCHREIBE DEN PERFEKTEN AUGENBLICK
A moment of pleasure is when I feel that everything around me works and moves at
the same pace as I feel in the moment myself, but it could be anywhere from in the bath,
to in a club, to in a meeting, to in bed or whatever.
It is just a deep inner feeling of peace and happiness.
WAS IST DAS BESTE DAS DIR JEMALS PASSIERT IST?
Probaly moving to Berlin.
WOFÜR GIBST DU GELD AUS?
My company, tax, weird ideas and projects, good food, nice clothes, film, magazines,
holidays, and fun.

Right now it is sunday afternoon and I am at home, wearing grey Addidas tracksuit bottoms,
bronze pumps (from top-shop in London) and an under-top from blush in Berlin ;)
