Exchange
During March a group of 28 pupils from Year 8-10 made an exchange visit to Brittany, staying with families in
Plouay and Lanester near Lorient. The group took advantage of every opportunity to practice their French (and
Breton!) and to test the Breton culture. The pupils visited the aquarium in St. Malo, the market in Quimper and
a biscuit factory in Concarneau. They had a day of education attending their Breton friends’ school lessons and
went to a fest noz on Saturday evening, traditional Breton folk dancing. The teachers on the trip (Miss Helen
Parry, Mr Ian Griffiths and Mr David Williams) praised the positive attitude and excellent conduct of the pupils.
The Bretons are planning to visit Ysgol Glan Clwyd in September.
Languages Club
Ysgol Glan Clwyd’s Modern Foreign Languages Club is going from strength to strength with pupils (and
teachers!) of all ages taking an interest in German lunchtime sessions with Mr Ian Griffiths. The sessions are
designed to make learning a language interesting and fun through games. Last term, we learnt Spanish and
after half term, Italian lessons will be offered. Parliamo Italiano!
