14-19 Conference
At the end of the Spring term a conference was held in Llangollen to celebrate 14-19 education. The school was
represented by pupils from years 12 and 13 and their presentations were very professional.
Sign Language Course
Richard Jones and his interpreter came from Llandrillo College to give a three-hour course on sign language and
additional information about being deaf. Students had to learn a number of themes in sign language, e.g. how
to ask for someone's name, different foods, numbers and how to tell the time. It was a fascinating morning and
it was great to see pupils' confidence increase as the course progressed.
Record of Achievement Ceremony
As is usual in the school year, there was a very memorable and dignified ceremony in the Cathedral on May 9th.
It was an opportunity to be proud of our young people and to wish them well for the future. The guest of
honour was Eryl Williams, a former pupil who comes from Llansannan originally, but now runs his own sports
equipment and clothing company, Asbrigolf. This company had a licence to sell goods at the Ryder Cup in
Newport, and sells goods in the official U.S. Open. Winners of the prizes awarded to a boy and girl from each
class in Year 11 were Amy Pearce, David Williams, Lois Davies, Gareth Smith, Bethany Jones, Declan Begley,
Ellen Williams, Cameron Kernachan, Alaw Davies-Smith, Jack Davies, Sophie Beal, Thomas Davies, Shannon
Jones and Paul Noakes. Certificates for good attendance and the Duke of Edinburgh award were also presented
during the ceremony.
