COURSE OUTLINE AND DESCRIPTION: (What and how are we going to learn?)<br />

We will follow the course outline as determined by FBISD district.<br />

Below is how the regular <strong>school</strong> week is divided in my class during the academic <strong>year</strong>. This has<br />

been done so that each student knows what to expect everyday he/she comes into my classroom.<br />

PROFESORA BOLANOS’ EXPECATIONS OF HER STUDENTS<br />

1. Any behavior which breaks <strong>school</strong> rules or keeps the teacher from teaching is unacceptable.<br />

2. Arrive on time<br />

3. Bring all required materials to class.<br />

4. Respect others: use appropriate language and keep inappropriate comments to yourself.<br />

5. Raise your hand to ask or answer a question.<br />

6. Keep the classroom clean and pick up your trash.<br />

7. Cell phones, other electronic devices or anything not related to the Spanish class will be picked up if used in<br />

the classroom. These devices and things distract you from learning in my class.<br />

8. Stay awake at all times,…..sleeping is not allowed!<br />

9. Respect Profesora Bolanos: there is no talking while teacher is instructing the class.<br />

10. Pay attention and take notes!!<br />

CONSEQUENCES OF MISBEHAVIOR OR RULE BREAKING<br />

1. Teacher addressed misbehavior in class by talking individually to student (warning)<br />

2. Teacher will ask student to step outside of the classroom.<br />

3. Teacher talks to parent (parent conference)<br />

4. Teacher writes a discipline slip and student is sent to his/her AP’s (Assistant Principal) office.<br />

Note: Extreme misbehavior will result in an office referral regardless of warning.<br />

MAKE-UP POLICY<br />

1. When you are absent, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find out about the work that you missed, regardless<br />

of the reason for the absence. You must check the class calendar for the days you missed. If worksheets were<br />

handed out, ask the teacher for a copy.<br />

2. You will have the number of days that you were absent to turn in written assignments or make up quizzes or<br />

tests given while you were absent. For example:<br />

Absent 2 days = 2 days to get the work in or make up quiz or test<br />

3. Work assigned before your absence such as projects, will be due upon return to <strong>school</strong>. Any time after that, it<br />

will be considered late.<br />

4. KEEP UP WITH THE CLASS CALENDAR. YOU WILL BE GIVEN A PAPER COPY, A BLOWN UP<br />

COPY WILL BE POSTED IN THE ROOM AND THERE WILL BE AN ELECTRONIC FORM OF IT IN<br />

THE TEACHER WEBSITE UNDER RESOURCES.<br />

LATE WORK POLICY<br />

Daily grades: 1 day late = -30pts 2-3 days late = -50pts 4+ days late = no credit<br />

Major grades: 1 day late = -25pts 2-3 days late = -50pts 4+ days late = no credit<br />

PESOS<br />

Students will be rewarded for participating actively in class. For example: asking <strong>high</strong>er level thinking questions,<br />

participating in <strong>school</strong> Spirit days, etc. Once students have accumulated certain number of pesos, they may turn them<br />

in for various rewards:<br />

5 pesos = restroom pass<br />

20 pesos = lowest daily grade becomes 100<br />

GRADING<br />

Major grades = 50%<br />

Major grades include projects and chapter tests.<br />

Daily grades = 50%<br />

Daily grades include homework, classwork, quizzes.<br />

40 pesos = 20 points on major grade<br />
