2. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS<br />

Common Name: cypermethrin<br />

Content in Product: 5% w/v cypermethrin (cis 50: trans 50).<br />

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION<br />

Flammable. Skin contact may cause transient sensations (tingling, burning or numbness) which<br />

disappear within a few hours<br />

4. FIRST-AID MEASURES<br />

Eyes - flush immediately with copious quantities of clean water or a<br />

commercial eye lavage kit. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.<br />

Skin contact - wash with copious quantities of water. If irritation occurs then seek<br />

medical attention. Remove contaminated clothing and wash thoroughly<br />

before re-use.<br />

Broken skin contact - if product contaminates a cut or abrasion then wash with copious<br />

amounts of water and seek medical attention immediately.<br />

Ingestion - remove product from mouth, if the patient is conscious and seek<br />

medical attention immediately. If the patient is unconscious then seek<br />

medical advice immediately, never give anything by mouth to an<br />

unconscious person.<br />

If breathing difficulties are observed or swelling of the eyes, lips or face are observed then<br />

medical attention should be sought immediately.<br />

5. FIRE FIGHTING METHODS<br />

FLAMMABLE: Use carbon dioxide or dry powder extinguishers. Toxic fumes may be produced by<br />

combustion. In the event of a fire run off should be contained or diverted away from<br />

environmentally sensitive areas, rivers, streams etc. Firefighters should wear self-contained<br />

breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing including gloves and eye/face protection. If<br />

runoff contaminates the water system then notify the authorities downstream.<br />

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES<br />

Small volumes should be absorbed onto a cloth. Larger volumes should be absorbed on an inert<br />

material. Disposal should be in accordance with local authority guidelines. The directions for<br />

exposure controls and personal protection (below) should be followed<br />

7.HANDLING AND STORAGE<br />

For animal treatment only. Keep out of reach of children. Do not eat, drink or smoke when<br />

using the product. Wash hands after use and before meals. Do not handle if known to be<br />

sensitised to the product. Wear impervious gloves when handling the product. Store at room<br />

temperature not exceeding 25ºC out of reach of children and animals. Do not breathe vapour or<br />

spray mist. The product is classified as FLAMMABLE and should be stored in accordance with<br />

the recommendations for higher flash point liquids in HSE Guidance Note HS(G)51 (Storage of<br />

Flammable Liquids in Containers)<br />

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION<br />

Before using any product read and become familiar with the product data sheet and label<br />

recommendation. All products are clearly indicated for animal use only. Risk is assessed from<br />

normal product handling and use.


Do not handle this product if you know you are sensitised, or if you have been advised not to<br />

work with such preparations. Handle this product with great care to avoid exposure. Wearing<br />

synthetic rubber gloves is recommended. Additional protection (e.g. water resistant bib or<br />

overalls) to prevent splashing and skin contamination is necessary with topical preparations.<br />

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY<br />

When stored unopened as per the manufacturers instructions this product will remain stable<br />

until the expiry date. Contact with heat, strong acids, alkalis and oxidising substances should be<br />

avoided.<br />
