W. G. WISE, AKRON, OHIO, president of the National
Warm Air Heating and Ventilating Association,
was in Chicago this week attending thc Midland
Club meeting.
CHESTER KUEBLER, advertising manager of Burnett- .
Larsh Mfg. Co., Dayton, Ohio, makers of "Duro"
water supply systems, was taken seriously ill while
en-route to the Master Plumbers' convention in
Pittsburgh. His case was pronounced appendicitis
and the offending member was removed on June 22.
While his many friends missed him, his interests
at the "Duro" booth were well cared for and all
will be glad to know that he is convalescing nicely.
A. J. BELFRY has resigned as general manager of
the American Machine Tool & Engineering Works,
Chicago, 111., to push the sale of a new labor-saving
soldering tool for sheet metal, furnacemen and
plumbers.
J. M. DOYLE, OF ELLENWOOD & DOYLE, 12 Great
Jones Street, New York City, dealers in sheet
metals and sheet metal workers' supplies and tools,
has returned from a delightful trip to Bermuda,
having had splendid weather both ways. His outing
gave him an opportunity to view the trade situation
with open mind on his return and he notes that
the conditions now prevailing are peculiar. With
a shortage of stock, railroad complication and now
the possibility of complication with the tin plate
workers, there is little probability of sufficient accumulation
stock to make things convenient for the
sheet metal contractors or of any reduction in prices.
CHARLES A. BOOTH, vice-president and sales manager
of the Buffalo Forge Co., Buffalo, N. Y., was
recently elected a director of the Worcester Polytechnic
Institute, Worcester, Mass.
Heating and Plumbing
THE PACIFIC GAS RADIATOR CO., 614 South Grand
Avenue, Los Angeles, manufacturer of gas radiators,
filed plans for a one-story brick addition, 50
x 127 feet.
THE SANATAR COMPANY of Indiana was incorporated
on June 21, at Indianapolis, Ind., with a capital
stock of $50,000 for the purpose of manufacturing
Sanatar sewage disposal tanks. This tank is designed
for use where sewers are not available. A
novel feature of the Sanatar consists in the portability
of the tank, as it can be built up so as to accommodate
the smallest unit required to take care
of the sewage disposal of five people to the largest
installation for a hotel, school house, etc. It is
built upon lines said to be approved by the United
States Health Service and has received the special
commendation and approval from the State Board
of Health of Indiana and other states. It is of
reinforced concrete and is light in construction.
The company is operating a plant at Portland, Ind..
and will have another one in operation at West
Palm Beach, Fla., in the near future. The product
will be sold through jobbers only.
JUST THE CHARACTER OF INFORMATION that will be
needed by the man who has not heretofore installed
water supply systems is given in the "Duro" in-
stallation and instruction book, issued by the Burnett-Larsh
Mfg. Co., Dayton, Ohio. It opens with
some aid to those who have not been selling water
systems for suburban residence and the diagrams
show the various methods of installing thc motor,
the pump, the pressure tank and connection with
the well or cistern. There are ten of these different
diagrams which cover practically everything a
man may be called up to do. Then there are pictures
of the "Duro" outfit in sections and in separaiton
so that the man can see every part and study
out its purpose and be sure he has got it put together
right. There are also detailed instructions
and finally there are halftone engravings showing
the twelve important steps that two men are taking
in installing a pumping outfit as will have to be
done by all who take up this work. The information
will be particularly valuable to those men who
have not had opportunity to see working outfits in
the showrooms or in exhibits at state and national
gatherings and who must, in a large measure, solve
their own problems of installation.
THE IMPERIAL SOIL PIPE WORKS, Bessemer, Ala., are
planning for the erection of a new unit for the
manufacture of iron pipe and fittings. It is proposed
to develop a capacity of about 30 tons a day.
FROELICH BROTHERS, INC., 1-12 North Seventh Street,
Philadelphia, plumbers' supplies, has had plans
prepared for a new pipe building at Tenth and
Hutchinson Streets, to cost about .* 10,000.
FOR THE CONVENIENCE of its New England and
other trade the Brown-Wales Co., Boston, Mass.,
has issued its price guide of plumbing, steam and
water goods, and sheet metal, which carries one
discount on all goods except soil pipes and fittings
which has a slightly larger discount. It calls attention
to stock shortage and the fact that at the
present time it has nearly 1200 tons of merchandise,
or equal to about 50 carloads, in transit from
