GOD MADE ME FUNKY
Website: www.godmademefunky.com
NuFunk is that amalgamation of style, culture,
fashion, beauty and music that’s quintessentially
Canadian.
That’s been evident since GMMF first hit stages in
Toronto in 1996 with their huge sound, unrelentingly
positive vibe and high-energy stage show, which
proved from day one they can play to anyone,
anywhere and pack the dance floor without fail.
Over time, the band has also shared the stage with
artists as diverse as Guru, Afrika Bambatta,
Parliament Funkadelic, Bedouin Soundclash and
INXS, toured relentlessly throughout Canada and the U.S and, most recently, won the
Biz Bash Toronto’s Reader’s Choice award for Entertainer of the Year for 2012.
THE ECSTATIC
They call themselves ‘The Ecstatic’. They
are a five piece band from Ottawa,
Ontario, Canada. They know what it’s like
to experience the highs and lows of being
in the music business, the struggles of
being close friends who work together,
and the difficulties of being musicians in an industry that is known for being
unforgiving.
“We struggle. There’s no other word to describe it,” says the Ecstatic’s song writer
and drummer, Laurie Stewart. “But we also love that the struggle pushes us and
challenges us to be better musicians, business people, and friends. At the end of the
day, after all is said and done – the backbone of who we are remains the same: we’re
friends who make music together.”
The Ecstatic create a high energy and captivating stage show right before your eyes.
Their unique and catchy brand of pop-rock-indie music is a mix of The Fray, Owl City,
and Kelly Clarkson, but to put a finger on their exact style is too difficult. You have to
experience them in the flesh to get a real sense of what they’re about. This band is the
real deal; they are the performance artists that epitomize the future face of Canadian
pop-rock.
Watch it happen - it’s going to be an incredible ride.
