Regulation 14<br />

<strong>Register</strong> of drivers of vehicles used to carry dangerous goods<br />

(8) The chief inspector may remove from the register the name of a<br />

person—<br />

(a) who has not, within the period specified in a notice requiring<br />

the person to attend a course of study or sit for an examination<br />

as referred to in subregulation (7), completed that course to the<br />

satisfaction of the chief inspector or, as the case may be,<br />

passed that examination; or<br />

(b) who has committed an offence against—<br />

(i) the Act; or<br />

(ii) the road transport legislation within the meaning of the<br />

Road Transport (General) Act 1999, section 6 (What is<br />

the road transport legislation?); or<br />

(c) who requests that his name be so removed; or<br />

(d) who has died.<br />

Note A reference to an Act includes a reference to the statutory instruments<br />

made or in force under the Act, including regulations (see <strong>Legislation</strong><br />

Act 2001, s 104).<br />

(9) The chief inspector may, by amending the register, alter the class or<br />

kind of dangerous goods in respect of which a person is registered—<br />

(a) by adding a new class or kind of dangerous goods, if the<br />

person has applied to the chief inspector in the approved<br />

manner for the register to be so amended and the chief<br />

inspector is satisfied that the person has adequate knowledge of<br />

the matters referred to in subregulation (4) (b) in relation to<br />

dangerous goods of the new class or kind; or<br />

(b) by excluding a class or kind of dangerous goods forming part<br />

of that class or kind, if the person has not, within the period<br />

specified in a notice requiring him or her to attend a course of<br />

study or sit for an examination as referred to in<br />

subregulation (7) in relation to the class or kind of dangerous<br />

goods forming that part, completed that course to the<br />
