Regulation 27<br />

of the dangerous goods.<br />

27 Interference with signs and labels<br />

A person shall not wilfully pull down, erase, mutilate or otherwise<br />

interfere with any sign, label or marking erected, affixed or made in<br />

pursuance of these regulations.<br />

28 Breach of regulations caused by emergency etc<br />

A person does not commit a breach of these regulations by reason of<br />

the doing of any act where by reason of stress of weather, accident<br />

resulting from causes not under the person’s control, or other<br />

emergency the doing of the act was in the circumstances a matter of<br />

imperative necessity.<br />

29 Approvals<br />

(1) The chief inspector shall, in deciding whether to give, rescind or<br />

vary an approval or to give a direction or make a requirement under<br />

these regulations, being a decision in respect of which no criteria are<br />

specified in these regulations, have regard to the safety of the public.<br />

(2) An approval may—<br />

(a) except where these regulations otherwise provide, be given—<br />

(i) in writing or verbally; and<br />

(ii) generally or in relation to a particular case; and<br />

(iii) on the application of a person or without an application<br />

for the approval having been made; and<br />

(b) be given unconditionally or subject to conditions.<br />

(3) An approval given under these regulations may at any time be<br />

rescinded or varied by the chief inspector by notice in writing given<br />

by post or otherwise to the person (if any) on whose application the<br />
