We have been informed by one of our compressor manufacturers that certain older compressors<br />
are no longer available. Most of the units that are affected are in excess of 12 years old.<br />
Careful consideration should be used when making the decision to replace a compressor of this<br />
age. Considering cost of labor, parts and unit efficiency, it may be a better decision to replace<br />
the unit. Newer ice makers typically use less water and power and will be more efficient than<br />
the older models.<br />
If, the decision is made to replace the compressor and it is no longer available through<br />
<strong>Hoshizaki</strong>, you may be able to use the compressor manufacturer’s model number to source an<br />
alternative compressor, at your local refrigeration supply house. The manufacturer’s model<br />
number is printed on the compressor label and can also typically be found in the Tech Spec<br />
guide or the individual units Parts Manual. It will also be helpful to not only note the<br />
compressor model number but also record any other data present on the compressor nameplate to<br />
aid your wholesaler in sourcing a replacement compressor. Compressor manufacturers typically<br />
recommended replacing start components with a new compressor. The wholesaler will be able<br />
to provide the proper start components needed for the replacement compressor.<br />
