Peri implantitis
X-rays are required to confirm if bone loss has occurred
– the key indicator of peri-implantitis.
Vertical destruction of the crestal bone – often saucer
shaped.
Mild peri-implantitis : up to 2mm bone loss.
Moderate peri-implantitis : up to 4mm bone loss.
Advanced peri-implantitis : over 5mm bone loss.
Suppuration may be present in all three types.
