2003 Safety Medal Awarded<br />
to George Bynog<br />
GGeorge Bynog, former chief boiler inspector with the State <strong>of</strong> Texas Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Licensing <strong>and</strong> Regulation, has been awarded the 2003 <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Safety Medal, in<br />
honor <strong>of</strong> his notable contributions to the boiler <strong>and</strong> pressure vessel industry.<br />
Mr. Bynog retired from the Department <strong>of</strong> Licensing <strong>and</strong> Regulation this year, after<br />
14 years as a <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> member. He holds <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Commission No. 9683.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong>’s highest commendation, the Safety Medal is awarded based on a<br />
nominee’s extensive experience in the boiler <strong>and</strong> pressure vessel industry, as well as a<br />
demonstrated commitment to safety. ❖<br />
Safety Medal Nominations Sought for 2004<br />
T<strong>The</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Boiler</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Pressure</strong> <strong>Vessel</strong> <strong>Inspectors</strong> is seeking nominations for its 2004 Safety Medal Award.<br />
This award, the highest honor bestowed by the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong>, will be presented at the 73rd General Meeting in Nashville,<br />
Tennessee.<br />
For someone to be considered for the Safety Medal Award, it is required that letters <strong>of</strong><br />
recommendation be submitted by three individuals who are acquainted with the<br />
c<strong>and</strong>idate <strong>and</strong> can attest to his or her contributions to safety within the boiler <strong>and</strong><br />
pressure vessel industry.<br />
Each letter <strong>of</strong> recommendation should include:<br />
• <strong>The</strong> name, title, employer, <strong>and</strong> business address <strong>of</strong> the c<strong>and</strong>idate.<br />
• A listing <strong>of</strong> specific contributions or achievements enjoyed by the c<strong>and</strong>idate with<br />
relevance to the award.<br />
• A brief biography <strong>of</strong> the c<strong>and</strong>idate including positions held, <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong><br />
activities, <strong>and</strong> participation in other industry activities, including any honors <strong>and</strong> awards known to the individual<br />
making the nomination.<br />
• <strong>The</strong> name, title, employer, <strong>and</strong> business address <strong>of</strong> the individual submitting the nomination.<br />
Letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation must be received by December 31, 2003, <strong>and</strong> should be addressed to the Executive Director,<br />
