• Patty Slattum is the first pharmacist<br />

to receive the William<br />

B. Abrams Award in Geriatric<br />

also recognized as the School of<br />

• The Geriatric Pharmacotherapy<br />

Program has received a grant for<br />

$12,744 from the Virginia Center<br />

on Aging to produce and deliver<br />

to pharmacists located in rural<br />

areas of Virginia a continuing<br />

education program titled "Medication<br />

Therapy Management in<br />

Older Persons.”<br />

• Edwin van den Oord is the principal<br />

investigator on a new RO1<br />

award from NHGRI, "Design and<br />

analysis of adaptive multistage<br />

genetic association studies,"<br />

Total award amount: $900,000.<br />

• James Zhang is a sub-recipient<br />

on a CDC grant to study disparity<br />

in ectopic pregnancy outcomes<br />

• The APhA Foundation has recognized<br />

the Ukrop's (Grocery)<br />

Pharmacy Immunization initiative<br />

in Richmond, Va. by awarding<br />

the program a <strong>2008</strong> Pinnacle<br />

Awards in the Group Practice<br />

Category. The program was<br />

spearheaded by Dr. Kelly Goode,<br />

team was named “Top Fundraiser” at the WVU Relay for Life event.<br />
