St. Margaret’s has been blessed over the years
with many holy and saintly people. Sister Mary
Gregoria, our “resident” saint, has now gone before
us joining our many loved ones in heaven.
Sister Gregoria taught for many years at St. Margaret’s
School. So many children, now many
adults, will tell you their fond memories of Sister
from singing “Abba, Father” to their kick ball games
during recess.
A member of our St. Margaret’s Choir, Sister is
well known for her singing...offering her beautiful
voice at funerals, Masses, and weddings. We say
“is” because she is still alive...now singing in the
heavenly choirs.
Sister Mary Gregoria could have opened up her
own bakery. Her delicious Hawaiian breads,
lemon meringue pies, chocolate chip cookies,
cheerio mix, pumpkin pies, chocolate cakes, just to
mention a few, brought raves and smiles to all who
were fortunate to partake. Her recipients were the
people of St. Margaret’s...the bake sales, the fish
frys, our staff, the sick...
Sister loved us. She prayed for us. She always
saw the good in others... saw your needs and always
put you before herself. In her final days, she
never complained. She was an inspiration to us
all...a friend to so many...a Saint to all.
We love you Sister...we will miss you greatly...our
sadness turns to joy for we know you no longer
suffer and are in the arms of Jesus…ALOHA!

Fun-Junction/CiCi’s Pizza Fundraiser!!
Eat pizza, play laser tag, and help St.
Margaret's School. Could fundraising be

Driver’s Village, buy lunch or dinner, & indicate that
you are there for St. Margaret’s School. We will receive

for Child & Youth Protection reminds
parents of the importance of accompanying
their child to the restroom, even during Mass.
At St. Margaret’s, restrooms are available off the
Greeting Area.

Annual Parish Picnic ~
September 11
The Social Committee is hosting our
annual Parish Picnic on Sunday, September 11th at
12:00 noon in Lonergan Park, North Syracuse for
Mass. That’s right, Mass. On that Sunday, the Noon
Mass at the church will be cancelled and replaced with
an outdoor Mass at the gazebo in the park. Bring your
lawn chairs.
Following Mass, we will have the picnic. St. Margaret’s
Church will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs, plastic
utensils and rolls. Those who attend are asked to
bring a dish to pass, e.g. salad, beans, nachos, brownies,
etc. Bring your own non-alcoholic beverages and
snacks.
Lonergan Park offers plenty of open space, with shade
and playground equipment. Games will be provided.
The park entrance is off of Route 11 in the Village of
North Syracuse, just south of Stickley’s Furniture
Store. There is plenty of parking available.
Printed below is a picnic registration form to be completed
and dropped into the collection basket any
weekend through Labor Day. The Social Committee
will also need some volunteers to assist with set up,
cooking, clean up. We need Ministers of Communion,
lectors, servers and ushers (Yes, there will be a collection).
In the event of rain, the Mass will be at church and the
picnic will be in the school gym. Pray for sun!

HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Thank you for your continued generosity to the Food
Pantry. We could use canned tomatoes, canned potatoes,
tuna, and spaghettio’s. All donations are gratefully
accepted!
In support of our Diocese’s Justice for Immigrants Campaign,
our Human Development Office, along with several
other parishes, and Catholic Charities provided the
Williams Farm immigrant workers with a meal to extend
our friendship and gratitude. Our support was most appreciated.
Is a loved one in an adult care community, or rehabilitation
facility? Are you caring for aging or disabled loved
ones, either in your home or theirs? Our new group is
for you. Please join & support fellow parishioners.

The 17th Annual Catholic Charities Golf Tournament
to benefit the Bishop Foery Foundation will be
held on Monday, September 12th at the Pompey Golf
Club. The entry fee is $125 and includes all fees,

A note for all those planning weddings
in the next year or so, you should contact
St. Margaret's before booking your reception
to make sure the date is open at the
church. We recommend that you meet
with the priest at least six months prior to the wedding
to fill out required paperwork and begin spiritual preparation
for the sacrament of Marriage.
In the Diocese of Syracuse, marriages are not permitted
on Sunday or after 4:00 on Saturday. The celebration
of the Rite of Marriage is prohibited on Good
Friday and Holy Saturday (April 6, 2012; April 7,
2012). Catholics are required to be married by a priest
or deacon in a Catholic church, unless it is a marriage
with a non-Catholic Christian in another Christian
church or to someone who is not Christian, and permission
has been granted by the Bishop.
Weddings celebrated by Catholic priests (or priests
who have left the ministry due to marriage or other
reasons) at casinos, parks, restaurants, or private
homes are INVALID and not recognized by the Catholic
Church as marriages.
