1. OVERVIEW__________________________________
Founded in 1919, the United States, Junior Achievement is the largest and oldest
organization of practical education in business, economics and entrepreneurship in the
world.
It is currently present in over 120 countries. In Brazil, has units in all states and the
Federal District.
It is a nonprofit educational association, maintained by private initiative, whose goal is to
awaken the entrepreneurial spirit in young, still in school, encouraging their personal
development, providing a clear view of the business world and facilitating market access
of work.
In Brazil, there were 2 million and 600 thousand students benefited and 100 thousand
volunteers involved. The activities of Junior Achievement are developed through
educational programs carefully formulated, applied to young people through partnerships
with schools and volunteers to share their experiences and knowledge with students of
different ages.
Globally, per year, 10 million young people participate to Junior Achievement programs,
consolidating the entrepreneurial culture around the world, with an ethical and responsible
approach.
Therefore, it is through education programs implemented by corporate volunteers in
schools and public and private shares held by small, medium and large companies, the
young Brazilian students will benefit.
The success of Junior Achievement is the result of synergy and dedication of all parties
involved: companies, schools and students, the main link between them volunteers.
13. TESTIMONIALS _______________________________
13.1 Volunteers
"The determination of Issac made all the difference. He studied hard and made several
questions via e-mail. He was totally focused and he didn´t stop preparing himself since
July. This proves once again that when a person really wants something, all the effort is
made to chase it”.
Ronaldo Balestra Choze
Volunteer from Distrito Federal
“We loved having participated in the Banks in Action program, we are very grateful to be
able to share a bit of knowledge with our school students to help with a little bank
knowledge. We are happy to be the first people to share some notion about how a bank
works for these teenagers and we were very pleased with the interest, their dedication and
we are very happy also with the organization and discipline of the school.
I'm sure a lot of those young people will have a great future.
We just have to thank the Junior Achievement for providing us this opportunity and we are
willing to participate in next time. "
Carlos Klaus, Cláudia Miranda e Katarina Gouveia
Volunteer from Pernambuco
"Participating of Banks in Action Program exceeded my expectations for this year of 2011!
I thought I would teach to young people and teenagers, but I learned much, not only with
the content of classes, but with the environment, with the things they shared. I really
learned a lot. It was enriching the satisfaction of seeing those eyes shining for knowledge
and their enthusiasm when understanding that the career opportunities within a bank are
not limited to the visible functions as manager, cashier, accountant and telemarketing. I am
very grateful and willing to implement this program again or another one from Junior
Achievement”.
"First, this program is offered to all and I had the opportunity to participate and it was very
nice . In addition to the knowledge that we learn here is very interesting because we apply
in our life out there. Is not just a game, is a real contest, and it feels great that we have won
with our strategies, decisions were taken, was very interesting, it was very cool. "
