Dear Parents,<br />
The mission of <strong>Epiphany</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>School</strong> is to educate children to become responsible adults<br />
living out Christian values and <strong>Catholic</strong> faith. This is achieved by emphasizing excellence in<br />
academics, personal growth, and spiritual development in Christ. The cooperation and participation<br />
of both the parish and school communities are essential to this endeavor.<br />
I ask as we enter into the month of May that we spend some extra time with Mary, our<br />
Blessed Mother. She is certainly an example of a faith-filled woman. The prayer listed below is<br />
a favorite prayer of all of our IHM schools.<br />

the cafeteria. All children should wear<br />
dress clothes—no sneakers or jeans.<br />
This program is expected to be a wonderful<br />
end of the school year celebration.<br />
Required Summer Reading News<br />
You should have received an order form that was sent<br />
home the week of April 29th.<br />
Please check off the books that you need to purchase,<br />
make a check out to <strong>Epiphany</strong> <strong>School</strong> and return the<br />
order form to the homeroom teacher(s) NO LATER<br />
THAN May 3 rd.<br />
Miss Moravec will collect all the forms and place the<br />
orders. You will receive the books by the end of May.<br />
They will be delivered to the classrooms as soon as they<br />
arrive. 20% of the sale of the books will go to the<br />

Kindergarten Testing<br />
Our Kindergarten classes will be taking a standardized test on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday,<br />
May 16. Half the class will be coming on May 15th and the other half on May 16th .<br />
More information will be sent home to all parents of Kindergarten students.<br />
IOWA INFORMATION<br />
A more detailed explanation of the IOWA scores will be forthcoming. The archdiocese has not sent<br />
the comparison results for the Diocese, Province and <strong>Epiphany</strong> <strong>School</strong>. Information will be sent once<br />
this information has been received.<br />
SPRING MUSICAL<br />

This year’s Spring Musical will take place on the evening of May 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the old<br />
church. The Spring Musical is for ALL 2 nd thru 6 th grade students. All students are to report to<br />
their classroom no later than 6:30 p.m. Students are to wear very nice clothes. No one should<br />
wear shorts, sneakers or t-shirts unless otherwise directed by Mr. Walden. Students may be<br />
picked up from their classroom only following the end of the entire show.

BOBCAT BOWL 2013<br />
HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION<br />
All Kindergarten children and all new students<br />
must have a complete physical examination and<br />
their immunization shots complete before entering<br />
<strong>Epiphany</strong> <strong>School</strong> on August 19. Verification of<br />
the above must be mailed to the school.<br />
All 7th Grade students must have their immunization<br />
shots completed before entering <strong>Epiphany</strong><br />
<strong>School</strong> in August.<br />
The attending physician has the necessary forms,<br />
which he/she must sign. Parents are responsible<br />
to send this verification to the school on or before<br />
No child coming in new to <strong>Epiphany</strong>, or entering<br />
Kindergarten or 7th Grade will be admitted until<br />
this documentation is in our files.<br />
A letter will be sent home with each student<br />
regarding the records needed.<br />

<strong>Epiphany</strong> <strong>School</strong> competed in the 2013 Bobcat Bowl sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes Academy. Our team members were Isabella<br />
Fernandez, Sarah Ferrer, Sofia Miret, and Catalina Morrison. There were ten schools in the competition. Our girls earned<br />
fourth place by doing an excellent job on the written portion of the test. They then participated in a very exciting Jeopardy portion of<br />
the contest. We are very proud of the girls and Mrs. Eagan. We congratulate them on their effort and hard work.<br />
DUKE UNIVERSITY TALENT IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM<br />
Annually, Duke University sponsors a seventh grade Talent Search. Eligible students must<br />
have scored 95% or higher in a sixth grade level standardized achievement test battery. Candidates<br />
are invited to complete an SAT I Reasoning Test in a designated school on a Saturday in<br />
December or January. TIP then provides the participants with comparative information concerning<br />
their academic abilities and resources for unique educational opportunities. In our present<br />
seventh grade, fifteen students qualified to sit for the SAT. Of these, one qualified for<br />
State Recognition.<br />
