is one of the most
important ports for WWL,”
explains Hiroyuki Matsuda,
General Manager, Tokyo. “It
is located in the center of the important
Keihin manufacturing area, and is near
the many factories of the Kanto Plain
(greater Tokyo), with excellent transportation
links.”
It is big: WWL had 143 port calls in
2007. “We handled nearly 250,000m 3 of
static cargo in 2007, and move some 1,200
H&H units monthly,” says Michio Sato,
Manager Vessel Planning. “We also have
36,000m 2 of storage space, and a skilled
partner stevedore company.”
“We’ve introduced a pre-receiving system
at the terminal,” adds Mr. Matsuda,
“so the stevedore company can accept the
cargo and have it ready on the dock before
the ship arrives.”
