New Delhi, February 10th, 2012: <strong>Association</strong> <strong>for</strong> Democratic Re<strong>for</strong>ms (ADR) and Uttar Pradesh Election<br />
Watch (UPEW), the Uttar Pradesh chapter <strong>of</strong> National Election Watch (NEW), a nationwide campaign<br />
comprising <strong>of</strong> more than 1200 NGOs and other citizen led organizations, has been working on electoral<br />
re<strong>for</strong>ms, improving democracy and governance in India. Uttar Pradesh Election Watch (UPEW) has<br />
analyzed affidavits <strong>of</strong> 1250 <strong>candidates</strong> out <strong>of</strong> the total 3967 contesting <strong>till</strong> the 4 th <strong>Phase</strong> <strong>of</strong> Uttar Pradesh<br />
2012 Assembly Elections. This report is based on the analysis <strong>of</strong> these affidavits. There are a total <strong>of</strong> 226<br />
constituencies going <strong>for</strong> polls in 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd and <strong>4th</strong> <strong>Phase</strong> in Uttar Pradesh 2012 Assembly Elections.<br />
