Characters on Parade Su13.23<br />

Students will explore character, movement<br />

and <strong>the</strong>atrical expression through exercises<br />

and games. They’ll create <strong>the</strong>ir own character,<br />

make a mask and parade through <strong>the</strong> studio<br />

on <strong>the</strong> last day of class.<br />

Ages 5-6 / Grace Lacques<br />

Forts & Secret Hideaways Su13.24<br />

From animals to secret agents, everyone<br />

needs a secret hideaway. Students will use<br />

many materials to create hidden spaces,<br />

maps, and drawings to reach safety. They<br />

will imagine <strong>the</strong> stories behind <strong>the</strong>ir need for<br />

sudden getaways.<br />

Ages 7-9 / Allison Alford<br />

Drawing & Painting Su13.25<br />

Students will learn <strong>the</strong> basics of drawing and<br />

painting. While experimenting with color<br />

<strong>the</strong>ory and mixing paint, <strong>the</strong>y’ll use various<br />

materials to paint with and paint on.<br />

Students will construct <strong>the</strong>ir own robots!<br />

They’ll challenge <strong>the</strong>ir imaginations and use<br />

different materials to engineer <strong>the</strong>ir creations.<br />

Ages 3-4 / Elisa Salcedo<br />

Furry Creatures Su13.27<br />

Students will create <strong>the</strong>ir own fur costume<br />

while learning about personas by developing<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir own characters. They’ll construct an<br />

elaborate foam and fur costume, transforming<br />

<strong>the</strong>mselves into a furry creature with<br />

paws and more.<br />

Ages 4-5 / Kristofferson San Pablo<br />

Fake Food Feast Su13.28<br />

What’s your favorite food? Would you like<br />

a giant cookie? A platter of Cheetos? Using<br />

many materials and art techniques, students<br />

will make <strong>the</strong>ir favorite foods and invent<br />

some new ones, such as a giant bowl of octogranola<br />

bars. On <strong>the</strong> last day of class <strong>the</strong>y’ll<br />

hold a “dinner party” installation to show off<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir banquet.<br />

Yikes! Crazy Creatures! Su13.29<br />

Students will imagine <strong>the</strong>ir own distinct creatures<br />

that can’t be found anywhere on earth,<br />

<strong>the</strong>n create <strong>the</strong>m in clay, plaster and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

wild materials.<br />

Ages 6-8 / Sandra Gallegos<br />

Click It! Snap It! Shoot It! Su13.30<br />

Students will discover <strong>the</strong> world of photography.<br />

They’ll create photogram stories, build<br />

mini and life-size sets for photo shoots and<br />

experiment with different lighting. They’ll<br />

look at photographers who create sets and<br />

situations for inspiration <strong>the</strong>n recreate <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

own version using props and even use each<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r as subjects.<br />

Ages 7-9 / Carly Steward<br />

Ceramics Su13.31<br />

Students will learn how to use <strong>the</strong> potter’s<br />

wheel as well as some hand-building techniques<br />

to create functional and nonfunctional<br />

ceramic pieces. They’ll also explore various<br />

methods of glazing, surface texture and alternatives<br />

in firing. Each class offers new experiences<br />

and projects so students may take this<br />

class more than once.<br />

Land, Sea, Sky Su13.32<br />

We’ll explore <strong>the</strong> world around us in <strong>the</strong> tradition<br />

of artists throughout time. We will make<br />

art about <strong>the</strong> sea, <strong>the</strong> forests, <strong>the</strong> sky and <strong>the</strong><br />

creatures that inhabit <strong>the</strong>m. We will use both<br />

traditional and recycled materials.<br />

Ages 3-4 / Lindsay Kessner<br />

Yummy Things Su13.33<br />

Students will use food as an inspiration to<br />

make many yummy looking artworks. They’ll<br />

mix colors, use clay, paint and sculpt to create<br />

pies, cakes, ice cream, French fries and maybe<br />

even a few vegetables.<br />

Ages 4-5 / Ashley Landrum<br />

What’s So Funny? Su13.34<br />

Students will look at artists who use humor<br />

in <strong>the</strong>ir artwork. Then <strong>the</strong>y'll make drawings,<br />

paintings and even sculptures of <strong>the</strong> things<br />

<strong>the</strong>y find to be funny.<br />
