Mysteries & Mazes Su13.35<br />

Students will make mysterious artwork with<br />

secrets to unlock and challenges to solve.<br />

They’ll use paint, clay and o<strong>the</strong>r materials to<br />

create art that will keep <strong>the</strong> viewer guessing.<br />

Ages 6-8 / Patricia Liverman<br />

Ceramics Su13.36<br />

Students will learn how to use <strong>the</strong> potter’s<br />

wheel as well as some hand-building techniques<br />

to create functional and nonfunctional<br />

ceramic pieces. They’ll also explore various<br />

methods of glazing, surface texture and alternatives<br />

in firing. Each class offers new experiences<br />

and projects so students may take this<br />

class more than once.<br />

Stop Motion Animation Su13.37<br />

Students will be introduced to basic animation<br />

concepts, using techniques of stop motion<br />

animation. They’ll animate objects, sand,<br />

clay and <strong>the</strong>ir own bodies to produce a stop<br />

motion video.<br />

Discover magical lands and create mythical<br />

plants and fairies with lots of materials. We’ll<br />

make fairy houses and o<strong>the</strong>r fantastic things.<br />

Students will explore <strong>the</strong> wacky side of<br />

science through silly and messy art projects.<br />

They’ll create sculptures, explode volcanoes,<br />

make papier-mâché planets and zooming<br />

airplanes.<br />

Drawing & Painting Su13.40<br />

Students will learn <strong>the</strong> basics of drawing and<br />

painting. While experimenting with color<br />

<strong>the</strong>ory and mixing paint, <strong>the</strong>y’ll use various<br />

materials to paint with and paint on.<br />

Ages 6-8 / Michelle Wiener<br />

Make Monsters Move Su13.41<br />

Students will build <strong>the</strong>ir very own monsters<br />

out of trash and recycled materials and <strong>the</strong>n<br />

bring <strong>the</strong>m to life <strong>the</strong>m using stop motion<br />

animation.<br />

Ages 7-9 / David Earle<br />

Drawing Optical Illusions Su13.42<br />

Students will learn to draw objects and places<br />

in a realistic way. The art term trompe l'oeil<br />

means to trick <strong>the</strong> eye. Using basic drawing<br />

skills <strong>the</strong>y’ll learn how to make images pop off<br />

or sink into <strong>the</strong> paper and create <strong>the</strong> illusion<br />

of space.<br />

Through art students will explore <strong>the</strong> function<br />

of farms and where food comes from. They’ll<br />

make food, plants, tractors and farm animals<br />

using many art materials. They’ll look at artists<br />

who are also inspired to make artwork of<br />

and about farms. Moo, Oink, Baahhh!<br />

Ages 3-4 / Melanie Moore<br />

Let’s Have a Party Su13.44<br />

Students will create all <strong>the</strong> things <strong>the</strong>y’ll need<br />

to have a party. They’ll use many art materials<br />

to make cakes, party hats, decorations,<br />

masks, and musical instruments.<br />

Ages 5-6 / Naomi Buckley<br />

Silent Movie Sillies Su13.45<br />

Students will study silent film masters, Charlie<br />

Chaplin and Buster Keaton and create <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

own short <strong>the</strong>ater scenes. This fun drama<br />

class emphasizes elements of physical comedy<br />

and universal expression. Students learn<br />

<strong>the</strong> basics of non-verbal communication and<br />

how to project this ancient art on <strong>the</strong> stage.<br />

Ages 7-10 / Grace Lacques<br />

Painting People Su13.46<br />

Learn how to draw and paint facial features<br />

and body proportions. Students will look at<br />

artists who paint people in many different<br />

mediums and styles.<br />

Ages 9-11 / Sandra Gallegos<br />

Flowers & Fireworks Su13.47<br />

Students will explore things that bloom and<br />

burst. They’ll look at patterns, nature and<br />

color while using many materials to create art.<br />
