Mardene, daughter <strong>of</strong> LeMar O. Hanson, lives in Ephraim with her husband, Royce, and <strong>the</strong>ir children, Zachary<br />
and Kirsten. A graduate <strong>of</strong> BYU in Elementary Education, she also did extensive study in Graphic Design. She<br />
has worked as a graphic designer and as a teacher and art curriculum director at a private school in Provo.<br />

JUDGES<br />
SUSAN BURDETT. Susan was born in Ogden, Utah, attended <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Utah where she received her<br />
B.A. in English in 1971 and her M.A. in English in 1973o She is currently completing her work on her doctorate<br />
in English at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> California at Davis. She teaches at Snow College.<br />
JOHN HENDRICKSON. Dr. Hendrickson was born in Berkeley, California0 He attended Hartnell College, A.A.;<br />
<strong>the</strong> John Hopkins University, A.B., M.A.; Florida State University, Ph.D. He did postgraduate studies and was<br />
research associate at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> California0 He taught at Florida State University, Middle Tennessee<br />
State College, California State Polytechnic College. He has been at Snow College since 1965 where he teaches<br />
English and Spanish.<br />
MARY ANN CHRISTISON0 Mrs. Christison is assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> ESL and director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> International<br />
Student Program at Snow College. She received her B.A. in Theatre Arts - Spanish at Utah State University<br />
and two M.A. degrees in Speech Communication and English at <strong>the</strong> same university. She is completing her<br />
Ph.D. at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Utah. Mary Ann is <strong>the</strong> author <strong>of</strong> several textbooks and numerous pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
articles in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> second language teaching. She travels throughout <strong>the</strong> world as a language consultant<br />
and an academic specialist for <strong>the</strong> U.S.I.A.<br />
Rules for <strong>the</strong> 1986 <strong>Sanpete</strong> Historical Writing Contest are <strong>the</strong> same as listed in <strong>Volume</strong>s 15 and 16 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Saga</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sanpitch</strong>.<br />
