Case study :<br />
Lisa McDonald<br />
Lisa was a pupil at St Ninian’s High School who<br />
attended a two day Commercial Culinary Arts<br />
<strong>Vocational</strong> Course at Reid Kerr College in partnership<br />
with En Croute Catering. Lisa had been interested in<br />
becoming a chef from a very early age and this is the<br />
reason why she applied to the Commercial Culinary<br />
Arts <strong>Vocational</strong> programme in S5.<br />
After noticing Lisa’s dedication in the kitchen,<br />
En Croute offered Lisa one week’s full time work<br />
experience. After completing her work experience,<br />
En Croute then offered Lisa a full time position in the<br />
catering department. Lisa excelled in this department<br />
and after five months was promoted to a Commis Chef<br />
at the Glasgow Art Club.<br />
The <strong>Vocational</strong> programme was able to give me the<br />
opportunity to experience a real kitchen. The course<br />
offered the British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding<br />
Body certification that enabled me to go straight into<br />
a working kitchen and it taught me that there were<br />
different aspects to working in the food<br />
industry.<br />
