Lisa McDonald
Lisa was a pupil at St Ninian’s High School who
attended a two day Commercial Culinary Arts
Vocational Course at Reid Kerr College in partnership
with En Croute Catering. Lisa had been interested in
becoming a chef from a very early age and this is the
reason why she applied to the Commercial Culinary
Arts Vocational programme in S5.
After noticing Lisa’s dedication in the kitchen,
En Croute offered Lisa one week’s full time work
experience. After completing her work experience,
En Croute then offered Lisa a full time position in the
catering department. Lisa excelled in this department
and after five months was promoted to a Commis Chef
at the Glasgow Art Club.
The Vocational programme was able to give me the
opportunity to experience a real kitchen. The course
offered the British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding
Body certification that enabled me to go straight into
a working kitchen and it taught me that there were
different aspects to working in the food
industry.
