The associated High School is Eastwood High School and the other cluster primaries are Uplawmoor Primary, Neilston Primary and Mearns Primary. Crookfur Primary is a nondenominational school for boys and girls of primary school age, covering stages from Primary 1 to Primary 7 The school roll is presently 246. The teaching complement of the school is 17.03FTE including a head teacher, a depute head teacher and two principal teachers. Each post carries curricular, management and pastoral care responsibilities which change in accordance with the school priorities as identified through the School Improvement Plan. We also have a support for learning teacher. There are a large number of placing requests, of which many are from Glasgow. We have a large number of bilingual pupils. We operate a policy of inclusion and equality. The school has five Pupil Support Assistants and one Bilingual Support Worker, who works 0.8FTE. The school has excellent links with the local community and has a very supportive Parent Council and a fundraising sub-group (Parent Staff Association). The school has a devolved budget from the local authority; a major part of this is utilised in support of the school plan. In Crookfur Primary we aim to provide a happy, safe environment, where all pupils will be encouraged and helped to realise their potential. We foster a positive attitude to work and achievement and encourage them to be independent and motivated to learn, by providing high quality learning experiences. attendance Parents have a legal duty to make sure that their children attend school. But as well as this, children need to attend school to get the best out of their education. The school records attendance twice-aday (once in the morning and again in the afternoon). Parents must let the school know about any authorised absence which could include sickness, religious observance or bereavement among others. Parents are asked to telephone the school office in the morning if their child is going to be absent. This way we can keep accurate attendance records which help us to keep a track on truancy, if it happens. Also, you should avoid taking time off for holidays during term time. Even towards the end of term when you may think there’s not much school work going on, there are important lessons and activities for all pupils which are an important part of their education. To help with the costs of holiday travel (which can rise during school holidays) the council has teamed up with Barrhead Travel to offer special discounts and incentives to parents of children at East Renfrewshire Council schools.
