This leads a lot of people down the magnolia or white route which is such a shame because there are literally thousands of amazing colours that you can use and experiment with in your home. There should be a system to your decision making to prevent you getting lost in choices. Start with basic factors such as the size of the space, function of the room and the natural light that it has access to. A general rule is to use lighter colours in smaller spaces to keep them open and airy. If you are working on a kitchen or bathroom you need to use a suitable paint and a practical colour to fight the grease and lime scale associated with these rooms. If your room is a good size and has access to lots of natural light you have vast array of choices – you can use darker and bolder colours to add some real character. It is also important to make every little bit of space count. Try running a low white wall system down one end of the room, the length and colour will create space as well as giving you loads of storage to keep things uncluttered.
