ITHACA Dan Robinson, COLLEGE Men’s Varsity Coach<br />

Associated with crew since enrolling at <strong>Ithaca</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> in 1975, Robinson is now in his<br />

22nd year as head coach. He’s had 30 years<br />

of coaching experience in all, including stints with<br />

the novice, women’s and men’s crews.<br />

Since 1988 the men’s lightweight crew is 72-34,<br />

including undefeated records in 1992 (12-0) and<br />

1994 (9-0). The men’s lightweight crew captured<br />

the New York State Small School Championship<br />

in 1990, 1994 and 1996. The heavyweights won in<br />

1993 and placed second in 1990 and 1991. In his<br />

five seasons as head women’s coach, Robinson<br />

guided that crew to a 16-27 race mark and two top-15 Dad Vail Regatta<br />

finishes.<br />

WARD ROMER<br />

Equipment Maintenance and Repair<br />

Romer, who was the Bombers’ head coach from<br />

1980-87, spent 18 seasons with the men’s novice.<br />

A 1970 graduate of Cornell, Romer was a four-year<br />

member of the Big Red crew at the lightweight<br />

level. He first worked with <strong>Ithaca</strong> crew 1973 as<br />

freshmen coach, and moved up to varsity lightweight<br />

coach the following year. In 12 seasons as<br />

lightweight coach he posted a 58-44 record, while<br />

the heavyweight crew was 36-40 in his seven years<br />

as coach. He works at the Cayuga Medical Center at <strong>Ithaca</strong>.<br />

Becky Robinson, Women’s Varsity Coach<br />

A<br />

member of the 1991 U.S. National Rowing<br />

Team, Robinson has been named Coach of<br />

the Year by the CRCA in 2001 and again in<br />

2005. In 14 years as head women’s varsity coach<br />

she has guided the Bombers to a 164-37 mark, 10<br />

trips to the NCAA Championships and national<br />

titles in 2004 and 2005. In 1995 she became the first<br />

member of the crew program to be inducted into<br />

the <strong>Ithaca</strong> <strong>College</strong> Athletic Hall of Fame. Robinson,<br />

who graduated from <strong>Ithaca</strong> with a degree in physical<br />

therapy in 1988, rowed with the Bombers from<br />

1985-87. She went on to compete with the Pioneer<br />

Valley (Conn.), Vesper (Pa.) and Boston Rowing Center clubs. She last<br />

competed internationally in 1993. Robinson is an instructor in the School<br />

of Health Sciences and Human Performance at <strong>Ithaca</strong>.<br />
