From the Director’s Desk 

After a great deal of search, reviews, suggestions and evaluation 

meetings, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy has come up with 

one of its most valued publications of the recent times – ‘A Handbook 

on Homoeopathy for Mother & Child Care’. The handbook was released 

by Smt. Anita Das, former Secretary, Dept. of AYUSH, in New Delhi 

during the inauguration ceremony of International Arogya 2008. 

Prepared as a part of the activity for the ‘National Campaign on 

Homoeopathy for Mother & Child Care’, the handbook is expected to 

benefit many homoeopathic doctors, teachers, students and research 

scholars. Also, it shall prove useful for the ROTP and CME programmes 

conducted by the homoeopathic colleges from time to time. The handbook 

is now available for the homoeopathic profession and can be purchased 

from the Council by making a request. I do hope that the book will come 

in handy for my homoeopathic fellows, as and when they need to know 

about the diseases related to the Mother & Child, and their homoeopathic 

management. 

Inside, you will find an update on the activities of the Council, the major 

one being the campaigns on Homoeopathy for Mother & Child Care in 

as many as five states during the period of October-December 2008. The 

highlights of a few important meetings like that of the Scientific 

Advisory Committee, the Screening Committee for Extra-Mural projects 

and the Sub-committee for pharmacological studies are also given in the 

following pages. 

I also take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt greetings to Smt. S. 

Jalaja, Secretary, Dept. of AYUSH and Sh. B. Anand, Joint Secretary, 

Dept. of AYUSH, for their appointment to the Department. We shall 

try to bring up the level of homoeopathic research by carrying out

designations like Principal Secretary (Urban 

Development); Secretary (Mines) and Mines 

Commissioner, Bihar; Additional Secretary 

(Personnel), Secretary (Public Health Engineering 

Department), Govt. of Bihar; Additional Secretary 

(Health), Govt. of India; Joint Secretary, National 

Human Rights Commission etc. 

Smt. Jalaja is also a fellow of the Special 

Programme of Urban Development of the 

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), 

Boston, (USA) and has attended various 

international and national conferences. 

The Director and staff of the Central Council 

for Research in Homoeopathy wholeheartedly welcome 

her to the AYUSH family and hope to take 

Homoeopathy to newer heights under the very 

proficient leadership of Smt. Jalaja. The Council

Anand has rendered his services in a variety of fields 

like Land Revenue, Commercial Taxes, Handlooms 

& Textiles, Municipal Adminis-tration, Rural 

Development and Panchayati Raj. A few major 

projects to his credit include enhancing the quality 

of livelihood for the poor, generation of new avenues 

of income for the non-farming section and catalysing 

the growth of micro-finance programme through 

women SHGs (Self Help Groups). 

With his rich pool of qualifications and wide 

experience, Sh. Anand has served as Director in the 

Ministry of Human Resources Development, 

Department of Higher Education, Govt. of India, 

as Municipal Commissioner, Madurai, as Joint 

Commissioner (ENF), Commercial Taxes, Chennai,

AROGYA International – 2008 

CCRH exploits the platform for dissemination and education

The widely recognised Arogya 

exhibition, ‘Arogya International 

– 2008’ was organised by 

the Department of AYUSH in Pragati 

Maidan, New Delhi, in collaboration 

with the India Trade Promotion 

Organization (ITPO). The event, held 

from 31st October to 3rd November 

2008, was inaugurated by Smt. Anita 

Das, Secretary, Dept. of AYUSH, in 

the presence of Smt. Sheela, CMD 

(ITPO), Sh. Verghese Samuel, Joint 

Secretary (AYUSH) and other 

dignitaries, including the overseas 

delegates from Association of South 

East Asian Nations (ASEAN). 

In the inaugural address, Smt. 

Das acquainted the audience about 

the fact that the AYUSH systems are 

now being well received by the 

general masses and said that the 

enhanced interaction amongst the 

practitioners of various streams is 

giving these systems a further boom. 

She told that the lack of adequate 

information to the public was the 

major obstruction in acceptance of 

any system other than Allopathy. 

This, she suggested, can be overcome 

by continuous feeding of the right 

information to the people through 

various campaigns. She took pride

campaigns will find many takers at 

the state and district levels. She also 

urged the healthcare practitioners of 

all the systems, who were united 

under one roof at the occasion, to 

rise to the new avenues that these 

campaigns were generating and give 

their contribution in the changing 

health scenario of India. 

The Secretary also released 

various publications of the research 

councils of AYUSH. Two priced 

publications of CCRH, ‘Handbook on 

Homoeopathy for Mother & Child 

Care’ and ‘Clinical Research Studies, 

Series – I’ were amongst the ones 

released. A ‘Homoeopathic Kit for 

Traveller’ was also released at the 

event. The kit, which was also freely 

distributed during the three days of 

the Arogya festival, contains 16 

homoeopathic medicines, including 

one homoeopathic ointment. This 

Homoeopathic Kit covers 9 common 

ailments that are usually met with 

during travel, such as headache, 

nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. 

After the inaugural ceremony, Smt. 

Das also visited the Council’s stall 

and praised the set up and display 

at the stall. 

The Pavilion of the Department 

of AYUSH, along with the Research 

Councils, National Institutes, 

Laboratories, Manufacturing units 

etc., showcased the latest 

development in the AYUSH sector 

in the fields of research, practice and 

education. As many as 75 

manufacturers of AYUSH products 

and other stakeholders had set up 

their stalls in the fair. The CCRH 

stall was also designed and set up 

keeping in view the latest health 

problems and how Homoeopathy 

could play an important role in 

dealing with them.

The IEC material, which 

consisted of 17 handouts on common 

ailments of the Mother & Child in 

Homoeopathy and 9 on other 

diseases like Diabetes mellitus, 

Malaria, Dengue, Japanese 

encephalitis etc. and their 

homoeopathic management, were 

kept for free distribution to the 

public. Two handbooks, one on HIV/ 

AIDS awareness and the other on 

modern lifestyle diseases, were also 

quite appreciated by the public. The 

translites displayed at the stall bore 

information on principles and 

strength of Homoeopathy, various 

medicinal plants, health hazards of 

smoking, etc. A separate counter was 

opened for the publications of the 

Council, which was also visited with 

great interest by the guests. A small 

herbarium, inclusive of a few rare 

species of plants, certain insects and 

chemicals stored in glass jars, were 

also exhibited for dissemination of 

information about the sources of 

homoeopathic medicines. A

Homoeopathy’ was another source of 

attraction at the stall. In all, the stall 

was visited by a good number of 

visitors, which included healthcare 

professionals and medical students, 

besides the common public. 

As a sideline of this event, an 

Indo-ASEAN Conclave on 

Cooperation in Traditional Medicine 

was also organised in collaboration 

with FICCI on 31 st October and 1 st 

November, 2008. More than 30 

delegates from the ASEAN countries 

took part in this event. The main 

purpose of this conclave was to 

propagate the use of traditional 

medicines in the Asian belt by means 

of more information and knowledge 

exchange amongst the Asian 

countries. 

The visitors also benefited from 

the free O.P.D. services for Health 

Check-Up by the medical specialists 

of Homoeopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, 

Siddha, Yoga and Naturopathy. 

Public lectures by the experts were 

also organised during the event for 

educating the common public on

Delivering the valedictory address, 

Sh. Veerasamy informed that the 

Government will start a 

homoeopathic medical college in 

Anna Nagar, Chennai. He also 

informed the audience that the 

government was keen to open 

homoeopathic dispensaries in the 

district hospitals. The Minister also 

appreciated the fact that the 

homoeopathic medicines are simple 

to administer and have no side 

effects and hoped that the campaign 

will be carried further and reach the 

grass-root level. 

In all, 266 delegates and 

participants including policymakers, 

allopathic and homoeopathic 

experts, manufacturers, NGOs and 

mediapersons attended the 

workshop. The participants were 

distributed the I.E.C. material 

prepared by the Central Council for 

Research in Homoeopathy, National 

Institute of Homoeopathy and State 


Resource Centre. 

The following resolutions were 

adopted in the campaign-cumworkshop: 

1. To declare the Government 

Homoeopathic Medical College 

as the State Institute of 

Excellence in Homoeopathy and 

request the State Government to 

take immediate steps to 

introduce M.D. (Hom.) courses 

in all disciplines approved by the 

CCH in the Government 


Thirumangalam. The State/ 

Central Govt. may provide 

necessary financial assistance to 

develop this college as a stateof-the-art 

homoeopathic college 

in the country. 

2. The Workshop unanimously 

resolved to request the Hon’ble 

Health Minister to establish a 

new Government Homoeopathic 

Medical College at Chennai. 

3. To organize the district level 

campaign in all the 31 districts 

of Tamil Nadu as a follow up 

action to keep the campaign a 

sustainable one. Regular 

awareness camps on the 

strength of Homoeopathy may 

be organized in rural areas to 

educate the people about the 

efficacy of Homoeopathy in 

mother and child care by 

involving the ANM workers, 

Women’s self help groups and 

Community Health workers. 

Necessary training to these 

people may be given in the 

homoeopathic colleges. The 

State Resource Centre may 

provide proper material in local 

language about Homoeopathy 

and its role. The Department of 

AYUSH may provide additional 

financial support to conduct 

such programmes. 

4. To educate and orient the rural 

homoeopathic practitioners of 

the effective use of 

Homoeopathy in mother and 

child care by supplying the 

standard reference material in 

the subject. The private 

homoeopathic medical colleges 

and NGOs may be involved in 

the effective implementation of 

the program. 

5. The Government of India has 

recognised Homoeopathy as one 

of the National Systems of 

Medicine. Based on the 

identified strength of this system 

on Mother and Child care, a 

national campaign has been 

initiated. Therefore, all the 

homoeopathic medical colleges 

may establish special clinics for

Maternal and Child Care in their 

hospitals. Homoeopathic 

treatment facility may be 

introduced in all the PHCs, 

CHCs and District hospitals to 

use it as a viable complementary 

therapy for diseases for which 

the system has proven effective 

strength in health care. 

6. The awareness about 

Homoeopathy amongst the 

public in Tamil Nadu is 

extremely poor. There are a lot 

of misconceptions about the 

system in the State and the 

accessibility of various facilities 

like training programmes, CME 

programmes, etc. for the 

practitioners and paramedics are 

also poor. Therefore, special 

training programmes and CME 

on Mother and Child Care for 

the practitioners and 

paramedics may be introduced 

by Dept. of AYUSH through the 

State Resource Center and the 

colleges under public and private 

sectors. Necessary material and 

support may be provided by the 

National Institute of 

Homoeopathy, Kolkata/ Central 

Council for Research in 

Homoeopathy, New Delhi to 

create more awareness about 

this system in Tamil Nadu. 

7. The teachers in the O&G 

department may be given special 

training in conducting labour 

and management of pregnancy 

through Integrative Medicine 

Training, which would help 

mainstreaming Homoeopathy in 

Mother and Child Care 

effectively. 

8. To request the National Institute 

of Health and Family Welfare, 

New Delhi, State Family Welfare 

Training Institutes and National 

Institute of Homoeopathy, 

Kolkata to train Homoeopathic 

doctors on the National Health 

Programs from time to time. 

Special practical training 

programmes may be introduced 

for the teachers of homoeopathic 

colleges on management of 

pregnancy and labour in the 

reputed allopathic hospitals. 

Posting of the interns in an 

allopathic hospital on 

management of pregnancies 

may be made compulsory. 

9. To design and provide proper 

audio-visual and printed 

materials in local language about 

Homoeopathy and its role in 

Mother and Child Healthcare. 

10. Mainstreaming Homoeopathy is 

one of the objectives of the 

NRHM, hence it is resolved to 

request the State Government, 

particularly the Mission 

Director, to set up more 

homoeopathic indoor and 

outdoor treatment facilities 

under the NRHM, in the existing 

allopathic hospitals, PHCs/ 

CHCs. Alternatively, the 

Department of AYUSH may be 

approached for the purpose. 

11. The administrative set up for 

Homoeopathy in the Directorate 

of Indian Medicine and 

Homoeopathy requires to be 

strengthened by creating 

required supporting staff. The 

excellent work of Principal 

Secretary & Director is to be 

supported by creating a Joint 

Director post, exclusively for 

Homoeopathy. 

12. The homoeopathic medical 

colleges and NGOs working in 

the health and social service 

sectors should be involved in the 

campaign. 

13. The Panchayati Raj institutions 

and urban self-government 

institutions should also be 

included in the School Health 

Programmes. 

14. The teaching hospitals in the 

private sector play an important 

role in providing Public Health 

Initiatives and human resource 

development of the young 

graduates. Therefore, the 

workshop recommends 

extending financial assistance to 

all private homoeopathic 

medical colleges as both 

developmental and maintenance 

grants for establishing collegiate 

hospital, with a view to provide 

public health care and for 

making facilities for efficient 

clinical training to the students. 

15. Request to the Tamil Nadu Dr. 

MGR Medical University to 

establish a Department of 

Homoeopathy under the 

University by utilizing the 

Central Grant available under 

the 11 th five year plan scheme 

for the conduct of programmes 

like faculty improvement, 

curriculum development, 

development of textbooks and 

teaching aides, besides research 

and advance studies in 

Homoeopathy. 

16. Request the State Government 

to revise the fees fixed for the 

Homoeopathy Degree Course 

rationally and reasonably with a 

view to facilitate the 

Managements to run the 

homoeopathic colleges with the 

required standards, as per the 

CCH Regulations.

with a Drug Testing Lab in the

Campaign on Homoeopathy for Healthy Mother and 

Happy Child Launched in Orissa Bhubaneswar

Workshop to launch the campaign

homoeopathic doctors to be

forth by the pitiable Mother and 

Child Health scenario in most parts 

of the state. In his inaugural address, 

Hon’ble Governor of Orissa, Shri 

Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, 

expressed his concern on the health 

status of children and mothers of the 

state and hoped that the campaign 

will be a lifeline to many mothers 

and children of the state. He also 

released a souvenir published by the 

organisers to commemorate the

completely entrusted to 

homoeopathic doctors at Govt. 

level and its activities be 

regularly monitored since 

foundation and success of all 

health programmes is laid down 

at this age. 

4. Doctors of both systems of 

medicine should be trained to 

know their referral levels so that 

not only patients of the State are 

benefited, but also Govt. is able 

to provide health care in a cost

Goa launches state-level campaign on Homoeopathy 

for Mother & Child Care Panaji 

The State Workshop on 

‘Homoeopathy for Mother & 

Child Care’ was conducted on 17th &

1. The State Workshop 

unanimously resolved to 

congratulate the Govt. of India, 

Ministry of Health & Family 

Welfare, Dept. of AYUSH for 

their guidance and financial 

support rendered to organize the 

workshop on Homoeopathy for 

the welfare of Mother and Child 

in the state of Goa. 

2. It was resolved that the 

institution of Panchayat Raj in 

the state of Goa be involved in 

Homoeopathy for Mother & 

Child Care services. The services 

of the homoeopathic physicians 

be availed to organize 

homoeopathic medical camps,

awareness talks and other 

related activities. 

3. Health care services at subcentre 

level be entrusted to 

homoeopathic physicians 

attached to DHS so as to provide 

basic health care facilities at the 

grass root level and thus reduce 

the excessive workload at PHC. 

4. The State workshop on 

Homoeopathy for Mother & 

Child Care approved the 

guidelines formulated for 

demarcation of clinical 

conditions to be treated in the 

sub-centre level or to be referred 

to the PHC. 

5. In view of the expertise available 

at Shri Kamaxidevi Homoeopathic 

Medical College & 

Hospital and it being the only 

institution in the State of Goa, it 

was resolved that an MoU 

(Memorandum of Under- 

standing) be signed between 

State NRHM Cell and the college 

for extension services and 

technical support. 

6. It was also resolved to organise 

CME (Continued Medical 

Education) for homoeopathic 

physicians working at DHS in 

collaboration with Shri 

Kamaxidevi Homoeopathic 

Medical College & Hospital. 

 

West Bengal launches State Level Workshop on 

Homoeopathy for Mother & Child Health Care Kolkata 

The State Level Workshop on 

Homoeopathy for Mother and 

Child Care in the state of West 

Bengal was held on 11th and 12th November 2008 at City Center, Salt 

Lake, Kolkata. About two hundred 

delegates including policy makers, 

allopathic and homoeopathic 

physicians, District Coordinating 

Officers of Homoeopathy from 

different parts of West Bengal, 

national resource persons, NGOs 

and homoeopathic drug manufacturers 

took part in the workshop. 

The inaugural session began by 

seeking the blessings of the Almighty 

through the prayer presented by the 

students of D.N. De Homoeopathic 

Medical College and Hospital, 

Kolkata. Sh. Chandan Sinha, IAS,

The State Workshop on ‘Homoeopathy 

for Mother & Child Care’ 

was conducted in Imphal, the capital 

city of Manipur, on 27th & 28th November 2008. The campaign was 

organised as a part of the National 

campaign on Homoeopathy for 

Mother & Child Care, whereby the 

trainers, stakeholders and 

homoeopathic physicians of all the 

states are being sensitised about the 

effective role of Homoeopathy in the 

health problems of the Mother & 

Child.

allocation of Corporate Funds 

from the Government of India

Arogya Health Mela 2008 Dehradun 

Health was on the minds of the 

citizens of Dehradun who 

visited the Arogya Health Mela 2008 

at Virasat Grounds, Dehradun in 

large number. The fair was organised 

for eight days, starting from 11th to 

18th October 2008, by REACH (Rural 

Entrepreneurships for Arts & 

Culture Heritage), in collaboration 

with the Dept. of AYUSH. Sh. Indu

Bharat. Organised at the National 

Institute of Ayurveda (N.I.A.), 

Jaipur, from 16th to 21st December 

2008, the aim of this exhibition was 

to create general awareness about 

the various aspects of the Indian 

Systems of Medicine and 

Homoeopathy and their role in 

healthcare. Sh. Naval Kishore

The latest publication of CCRH, 

‘Handbook on Homoeopathy for 

Mother and Child Care’, released by 

Smt. Anita Das, Secretary, AYUSH, 

at the ‘Arogya’ Exhibition, on 31st October 2008, is now available for the 

homoeopathic profession. The book 

has been designed to promote the 

role of Homoeopathy in mother and 

child healthcare, as a part of the 

nationwide campaign on 

Homoeopathy for Mother and Child 

Care launched by the Department of 

AYUSH, Government of India. 

The book contains information 

from various sources and 

incorporates strategies for general 

management and specific 

homoeopathic therapeutics for 

various commonly seen conditions 

during pregnancy and childhood. It

discussions on various policy issues 

involving the database preparation 

and made the following 

recommendations: 

1. The work on database is 

extremely important to record 

the growth and development of 

Homoeopathic science in the 

country. 

2. CCRH has taken a very good 

initiative in this regard and thus 

the work may be further 

continued by the Council and 

placed on the internet on its 

website. This will give visibility to 

the Indian homoeopathic 

publications to the international 

community. 

3. Therefore, CCRH should make a 

policy in this regard. The 

committee gave the following 

suggestions for the Policy on the 

Homoeopathic Database 

The 44th meeting of the Scientific 

Advisory Committee (SAC) was 

held on 30th and 31st of December 

2008 under the chairmanship of Dr. 

Diwan Harish Chand. The meeting 

took place at the CCRH headquarters, 

New Delhi, on the first day 

and at Central Research Institute 

(Homoeopathy), Noida, on the 

second day.

Development: 

a. Scope – The scope of the 

homoeopathic database needs 

to be defined. To start with, 

the Indian Homoeopathic 

literatures should be taken in 

the first phase. The Council 

may broaden the scope further 

and involve the other 

international literature. 

b. Selection Criteria – Broad 

parameters of the journals 

which would be indexed need 

to be framed. All the 

homoeopathic literatures 

which have not been yet 

indexed should ideally be 

indexed first. As such first all 

Indian Homoeopathic 

journals should be included. 

Preference could be given to 

those journals which have not 

been indexed. 

c. Indexing – Indexing could 

be retrospective or 

prospective. However, 

retrospective indexing (i.e. 

latest first) is preferential. 

d. Advisory Committee – An 

Advisory Committee for 

Database Preparation could 

be formed by the Council. The 

Advisory Committee could 

review the progress of the 

database updation. Further 

special materials such as 

seminar reports, abstracts etc. 

could be referred to the 

Advisory Committee formed 

for this purpose. 

e. Database Format – Initially 

bibliographic database could 

be prepared. Later in the next 

phase full text may be made 

available. Initially full text of 

the journals where no 

copyright issues are involved 

could be made available. 

Copyright issue and issues 

related to mutual exchange of 

data transfer could be dealt 

with in later phases. 

f. Updation – Database work 

would need continuous 

evaluation, updation and 

editing. 

g. Human Resource – Council 

may also identify staff 

required to continue such 

work and identify provision of 

providing training on 

database preparation to the

The meeting began with a 

welcome address by Prof. C. Nayak,

presentations of the ongoing and 

concluded clinical research studies 

were made by the investigators of 

various projects. The agenda items 

for the meeting were taken up for 

consideration on the second day at 

Central Research Institute(H), 

Noida. The members of SAC were 

appreciative of the ongoing tasks at 

CCRH and specifically 

complimented the efforts of the 

Editorial team of Indian Journal of 

Research in Homoeopathy (IJRH) 

for bringing up the research 

quarterly. The members also took a 

tour of various sections of the 

Central Research Institute(H), Noida 

on the second day of the meeting. 

The following important 

decisions were taken during the twoday 

meeting of the Committee: 

1. The Committee desired the 

manuscript on the concluded 

studies of Acute Tracheo 

Bronhitis (ATB), Acute 

Diarrhoeal disease in children, 

gastroenteritis and Furnuculosis 

be prepared. 

2. The Committee noted the action 

taken by CCRH for treatment of 

Chikungunya/ Viral fever study 

conducted in Kerala. It was 

informed that the Genus 

Epidemicus in the study was 

Bryonia alba. 

3. The Committee appreciated the 

get up and contents of Indian 

Journal of Research in 

Homoeopathy, a publication by 

CCRH. It was brought into 

notice of the members that the 

journal has been made priced to 

meet the expenses incurred on 

bringing it out. 

4. The Committee approved the 

proposal for opening Antenatal 

Care Centers at the Institutes/ 

Units after equipping the centers 

with the required staff. Prof L.K.

through Drug Proving Extension

Bhubaneswar, since the college 

already had an Obstetrician and 

a Pediatrician. It was decided by 

the Committee that instruments/equipment/furniture 

required for setting up the centre 

may be provided by the CCRH. 

5. The Committee was informed 

that the general part of the 

Protocols of new clinical 

research studies have been 

prepared in consultation with 

experts of modern medicine, but 

the homoeopathic part of the 

protocol needs further 

discussion with the homoeopathic 

experts, with respect to 

the repetition schedule of 

homoeopathic medicines in LM 

and centesimal potencies. The 

committee desired that the 

guidelines for repetition of LM 

potency and centesimal 

potencies, given in the 6 th and 

5 th editions of ‘Organon of 

Medicine’ respectively, be 

followed. 

6. The Committee desired that the 

proving of Azathioprine and 

Cyclosporine should be initiated 

soon. 

7. The Committee approved the 

articles for publication in 

Clinical Research Series – II. 

8. The Committee ratified carrying 

out of a Collaborative study on 

‘Anti-leptospiral activities of 

homoeopathic medicines’, to be 

conducted with Regional Medical 

Research Centre (RMRC 

under ICMR), Port Blair. 

9. The Committee also ratified 

carrying out of a Collaborative 

study with the scientists at 

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre 

(BARC), Mumbai, to evaluate 

‘Action of homoeopathic 

medicines and potencies on 

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) 

and Blood Flow Variability 

(BFV) with Medical Analyzer 

System’. The committee 

approved the protocol and 

desired that the rubrics related 

to HRV and BFV, which are to 

be analyzed by the Medical 

Analyzer System, should be 

considered for selection of 

medicine under trial.

by the Screening Committee were: 

1. Committee decided that the 

outcome of all the concluded 

studies must be published in 

reputed journals. 

2. One of the pre-conditions for the 

scrutiny of the fresh proposals 

would be that P.I (Principal 

investigator)/Co-I (Coinvestigator) 

should have 

relevant experience in the 

proposed research and should 

have authored and published 

papers, preferably in the related 

field. 

3. Monitoring of all the ongoing 

studies would be done every six 

months. 

4. Council should arrange training 

sessions for the P.I(s) and Co- 

I(s) of the studies under the 

Extra-Mural Research Scheme, 

with the scientists of Council of 

Scientific & Industrial Research 

(CSIR) and Indian Council of 

Medical Research (ICMR). 

5. Fee of the P.I(s) and Co-I(s) will 

be paid only after the publication 

of the study is made in reputed 

journal(s). 

6. Council should publish the 

abstracts of all its intra-mural 

and extra-mural research 

projects conducted to 

disseminate the research

At the outset, Director, CCRH, 

welcomed the experts and briefed 

them about the pharmacological 

studies conducted by CCRH so far. 

He emphasised on the need of doing 

the future pharmacological studies 

on scientifically-designed protocols, 

which are actually essential for 

homoeopathic research. This, he 

opined, will benefit the homoeopathic 

system and the fraternity at 

large. 

During the meeting, the Sub- 

Committee resolved that the 

outcome of pharmacological studies 

should not become the basis of 

prescription as the basis of 

homoeopathic prescription should 

remain the symptoms driven from 

the proving of drugs and recorded 

in the Materia Medica. 

Following recommendations 

were made by the Sub-committee: 

Pharmacological studies of the 

drugs mentioned in Homoeopathic 

Pharmacopoeia of India 

should be taken up, preferably 

from 56 indigenous drugs in the 

first phase, as per the list. 

Pharmacological studies of drugs 

as per list used for long term 

disease conditions are to be 

taken up like: 

• Diabetes and metabolic 

disorders 

• Hypertension 

• Anti-cholesterol drugs for 

lipid disorders. 

• Drugs for urinary calculi, 

Internal fungal infection, 

Chronic diseases, Arthritis, 

Neurological disorders 

The pharmacological studies of 

all the drugs are to be taken up 

in accordance with the protocols 

laid down after due consultation 

with the experts for validation 

of the claims in appropriate 

models {both in vitro and in 

vivo}. 

The mother tincture with 

subsequent potencies should be 

tested in well designed 

experimental models as per 

parameters listed. 

Toxicological studies of mother 

tincture and subsequent potencies 

should be taken up from 

already existing drugs of HPI in 

phased manner as per list. 

The Council should develop its 

own infrastructural facility for 

pharmacological screening at 

CRI{H}, Noida.

arranged keeping in view the current 

research projects of the centre on 

Schizophernia and Depressive

the Centre for Innovation in Science 

and Social Action (CISSA) at

event was inaugurated by Hon’ble 

Chief Minister of Kerala, Sh. V.S. 

Achuthanandan and presided over 

by the Hon’ble Minister of Food and 

Civil Supplies, Sh. C. Divakaran. The 

programme was organised to 

generate awareness about different 

kinds of national foods and benefits 

of agro-biodiversity. Around 25,000 

people visited the homoeopathic 

stall, which was set up by CRI (H), 

Kottayam. Handouts on various 

conditions were distributed to the 

public for awareness and education.
