The 51st meeting of Scientific 

Advisory Committee (SAC) was 

held at the headquarters of Central 

Council for Research in Homeopathy 

(CCRH) on 23rd March’12 to discuss 

the achievements and future plans to 

be included in policies of the Council.

stalwarts in the field of Homoeopathy. 

Their contributions towards CCRH 

were remembered and homage was 

paid to them by observing silence. 

The Committee was informed about 

the Collaborative Research studies 

between the Council with various 

institutes, for which the members 

gave some suggestions related to each 

study. It was proposed in the meeting 

that the financial implications of the 

proposed Fundamental Research

A Sub-Committee was constituted 

to consider the staffing pattern of 

Central Research Institutes (H), 

Regional Research Institutes (H) and 

Clinical Research Institutes (H) as 

per the decisions from 4 th and 5 th 

meeting of Governing Body and to 

keep a uniform pattern for running 

OPD and IPD. 

The Committee approved the 

assignments for the year 2012-13. 

The Committee also reviewed various 

ongoing projects under the Council 

(intramural) and in collaboration with 

other organizations. 

The Committee recommended 

following proposals for further 

development of the Council: 

• To provide incentives to MD 

(HOM.) students proposing to take

under CCRH, and 

30 allopathic consultants on hon- 

up research in their dissertation 

work through Principal/Director 

of the College in order to promote 

research aptitude among PG 

students. 

• To enhance the bed number in 

Inpatient Department from 25 to 

50 at Regional Research Institute 

(H), Gudivada and proposal for a 

new research center and Inpatient 

Department with 30 beds at Martin 

Charitable Trust, Coimbatore. 

• To constitute Institutional Ethical 

Committees at Institute and Unit 

level of the Council. 

• A Sub-Committee was constituted 

to determine the staff requirements 

for the post of Pharmacist at Institutes 

and Units. 

• To constitute a cell to take up 

Literary Research in Hindi and

Brassica oleracea was recommended

in 99 th meeting of Homoeopathic 

Pharmacopoeia were approved. 

• The monograph of Azadirachta 

indica folia was considered for 

incorporating in HP Codex, the 

proving of which may be obtained 

from SBL, Ghaziabad by HPL. 

• Ten monographs discussed in 

100 th meeting were approved after 

incorporating minor suggestions.

In this meeting, Director, HPL 

submitted a soft as well as hard copy 

of 101 monographs along with preface 

which was approved for including in 

10 th volume of HPI. The Committee also 

recommended work on consolidation 

of HPI Volumes 1-9 in two parts. 

Two drugs viz. Justicia rubrum 

and Ocimum caryophyllatum, referred 

in the ‘Drugs of Hindoostan’ are to be 

included in the list of 250 drugs for 

preparation of monographs for HPI. 

It was also recommended that 

Thin Layer Chromatography studies 

and identification part should be 

incorporated in each monograph by 

HPL.

Ameeting of Peer review Committee 

of AYUSH Research Portal was 

organized on 20th January’12 at 

Central Council for Research in 

Homoeopathy (CCRH) headquarters 

to consider the approach/method 

to be adopted regarding scrutinizing 

and categorization of research data/ 

information uploaded in AYUSH

appreciated the decision taken by the 

Central/Chief Editorial Committee 

to isolate the data of AYUSH portal 

into four categories namely, Clinical

The Secretary (AYUSH) was

also suggested for increasing the 

honorarium of Proving associate. 

Taking into consideration, the safety 

as well as clarity in proving of Vidatox 

30CH, the Committee advised to 

prove this drug with generic name 

‘Rhopalurus junceus’. The Committee 

recommended to collect the proving 

data of CAPSHYDRO (Capsaicin & 

hydrocapsaicin) and Hydroquinone 

from Dr. Rajesh Shah. During the 

discussion on the pathogenesis of 

ten drugs, six were approved by the 

Committee. Rest four drugs were 

recommended for reproving.

investigator. Dr. Nandani K. Kumar, 

Consultant, National Institute of 

Epidemiology, Chennai, presented 

her experiences as a resource person 

on Legal aspects and Ethical issues 

in Clinical treatment & Regulation 

covering clinical trials at National and 

International levels. Dr. Renu Saxena,

AIIMS, New Delhi elaborated on 

the topic ‘Documentation during 

Trial and Informed Consent Process’.

widely known and esteemed Homeopath, passes away 

Dr. Jugal Kishore 

(28.10.1915-23.01.2012) 

Acclaimed person of the era, an 

eminent historian, eminent 

homeopath with unconditional and 

enthusiastic devotion, Dr. Jugal Kishore, 

97, passed away peacefully after a long 

illness, on 23rd January’12 at his 

residence. Throughout his life he 

demonstrated his wholesouled 

allegiance to the system of Homoeopathy. 

Born in 1915, Dr. Jugal Kishore 

graduated from Foreman Christian 

College, Lahore. He graduated in 

Homoeopathic Medicine from the 

Faculty of Homoeopathic Medicine, 

Calcutta Homeopathic Medical College, 

West Bengal. He was visiting consultant 

to Nehru Homeopathic Medical College 

and Safdarjung hospital. He practiced 

homeopathy for more than 50 years in 

Delhi. 

Dr. Jugal Kishore was Chairman of 

Governing Body of Central Council for 

Research in Homeopathy (CCRH), 

Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Committee 

of India and member of Scientific 

Advisory Committee and Drug Proving 

Committee of CCRH. He was associated 

with the literary works by the Council 

like ‘Review and revision of Kent’s

Dr. Jugal Kishore proved and 

verified homeopathic medicines like 

Saraca indica, Sulphurous acid, Cynodon 

dactylon, Abroma augusta, M&B 693 

and Tylophora indica. He did immense 

work in Repertory and made repertorisation 

of symptoms easy by 

compiling the biggest homoeopathic 

Card Repertory of his time- ‘The Kishore 

Card Repertory’. His exemplary works 

were recorded as books namely 

‘Evolution of Repertories’, ‘Integrated 

Homoeopathic Repertory-Mind and 

Generalities’, ‘Monograph on Iodine as 

Homoeopathic remedy, ‘Remedies 

affecting Post-Nasal Catarrh’, ‘Rhododendron’, 

‘Aralia racemosa- a study’, 

‘Arum triphyllum’, ‘The Problem of

Ulcer, the Council has undertaken 

the observational study to assess 

the effectiveness of homoeopathic 

medicines in reducing the rate of 

foot amputations in these cases. 

This study was undertaken at 

Drug Standardisation Extension 

Unit (H), Hyderabad, from October 

2005 to September 2009. 

The patients above thirty years 

from both sexes were screened and 

eighty one patients enrolled in the 

study. Sixty-three cases completed 

the follow up of four years. The 

improvement of the cases was 

assessed based upon the diabetic 

foot ulcer assessment score at the 

entry level and at completion of 

study along with the photographs. 

The indicated similimum was 

given to the enrolled group 

from the fifteen predefined trial 

medicines given in the study 

protocol. The difference in the 

mean of the ulcer assessment 

score was found to be statistically 

significant (P=0.000,

were cured with homoeopathic 

similimum but only one patient 

was cured from conventional 

group. None of patients from

In this study the treatment outcome 

of term ‘atopic diseases’ in children 

with homeopathic medicines was 

studied at the Homoeopathic Clinic 

of Lucca, Italy and the long term 

outcome of treatment of children 

suffering from atopic dermatitis 

(AD) after an approximate period 

of 8 years were analyzed. In this 

observational longitudinal study, 

551 children consecutively examined 

from September 1998 to December 

2008. 213 cases from this group 

were classified as per Likert Scale. 

83 children suffered from asthma, 51 

showed allergic rhinoconjuctivitis, 

76 children had atopic diseases and 

3 suffered with food intolerance. The 

treatment outcome was evaluated using 

the Glasgow Homoeopathic Hospital 

Outcome Score. Natrum sulph, Sulphur, 

Pulsatilla were commonly prescribed 

to the cases. Out of 104 patients, 65 

homoeopathic group had to take 

antibiotics, where as 97.05% cases 

from conventional group were 

given antibiotics. 85% of patients

The parents of the patients within 

the age group of < 4.9 years of age 

suffering from AD, who had started 

homoeopathic treatment, were invited 

for follow up 8 years later. 40 children 

were examined and it was found that 

70% had complete disappearance 

of skin lesions and 30% were still 

affected by AD. Among the unhealed 

cases 20% had asthma and 20% had 

or developed allergic rhinitis. The 

elementary evidences confirm the 

positive response to homoeopathic 

medicines in the treatment of atopic 

diseases in children.

(CS) has been studied through a 

multicentric observational approach 

by Central Council for Research in 

Homoeopathy. 628 patients suffering 

from CS confirmed on X-ray from eight 

centers were enrolled in the study and 

assessed by using the chronic sinusitis 

assessment score (CSAS). The followup 

period was 6 months. 17 medicines 

were shortlisted for prescription after 

repertorisation of the pathological 

symptoms of CS. The regimes and 

adjustment of regimes in the event of a 

change of symptoms were pre-defined. 

The data collected after 3 and 6 months 

of treatment from the study showed 

statistically significant reduction in the 

score. The X-ray findings also improved 

significantly. Among 17 pre-defined 

medicines, only 13 were prescribed 

to 550 patients. Silicea, Calcarea 

carbonicum, Lycopodium, Phosphorus, 

and Kali iodatum were found to be 

most useful in the study.
