Pebble Plaster Repairs FAQ’s E-Z PATCH 9 & 9 F.S. 

What does “For Above Water Repairs” mean exactly? 

This is for the cement type of repair supplies that are not for underwater repairing. It means that the repair 

must be done after the pool water is lowered below the area to be repaired. It does not mean that after 

the repair is done and hardened, that water cannot be constantly on the surface (as in the case of 

repairs done to the inside of a pool). 

Do repairs using E-Z Patch 9 last long? 

Yes, all of our cement repair supplies, including 

E-Z Patch 9 and E-Z Patch 9 F.S. are made 

with the finest ingredients. They also have 

additional Polymers & Pozzolans. The finished 

repairs are usually much stronger than the 

original plaster. 

What do I use to do a underwater pebble 

plaster repair? 

Use E-Z Patch 9 F.S. (Fast Set). Watch the 

E-Z Patch 9 F.S. Instructional Repair Video. 

Can I adjust the color of E-Z Patch 9 or E-Z Patch 9 F.S.? 

Yes, you can make it lighter by adding a little Titanium Dioxide white colorant (also sold here) when mixing. 

Also, masonry dye can be added to any of our cement type repair supplies. Remember to color match “wet 

to wet” to determine color matching. Make sure the repair material is wet and also wet the existing surface 

to be matched. 

In hot weather how can I slow down the setting time of E-Z Patch 9 Pebble Plaster Repair? 

If you mix the materials in any of our cement type products using warm or hot water, it will set-up faster. If 

you mix the materials in any of our cement type products using cool of cold water, it will set-up slower. 

Can I buy E-Z Patch 9 and 9 F.S. in a smaller pebble size? 

Yes, both are available in a “regular” pebble size (like on our sample boards). We also have a smaller 

“mini” pebble. When ordering, just request the smaller “Mini” Pebble!

How do I get the right amount of Quartz to show on the surface of the E-Z Patch 10 Quartz plaster 

repair? 

We have complete instructions on each repair supply item. The instructions will tell you how to use a 

sponge & a Trowel to get the right amount of Quartz showing on the surface of the repair. Even with 

your 14 colors available for the E-Z Patch 10, on rare occasions I have encountered a custom colored 

Quartz plaster 

Can your E-Z Patch 10 be colored? 

Yes, add masonry dye to the dry mix of 

E-Z Patch 10 or E-Z Patch 10 F.S. to 

change the color. It is better to start with a 

small test mix and add a small amount of 

water to it to determine how much dye you 

will need to add. 

Remember to also wet the surrounding 

area that you are trying to match so that 

you are matching “wet to wet” to get a 

more correct color match. 

How thick can I apply your plaster repair? 

Our E-Z Patch pool plaster materials are designed to be applied a min. of 3/8” deep and a max. of 1” at 

a time. Layers of up to 1” thick can be applied if you allow the previous layer to dry first and then 

moisten prior to applying the next layer so you don’t get shrinkage cracks.

BEADCRETE Plaster Repairs FAQ’s E-Z PATCH 11 & 11 F.S. 

How thick can I apply your plaster repair? 

Our E-Z Patch pool plaster materials are designed to be applied a min. of 3/8” deep and a max. 

of 1” at a time. Layers of up to 1” thick can be applied if you allow the previous layer to dry first 

and then moisten prior to applying the next layer so you don’t get shrinkage cracks. 

What causes the cracks in my pool plaster and how can I prevent them from cracking again in 

the future? 

Ground movement is usually the reason for cracks. Also, if the pool wall was not installed thick 

enough, this will create a weak area that will crack. If you apply E-Z Patch 24 Elastic Crack 

Preventer to the area to be repaired after doing the chipping and prep work and before 

installing the plaster repair materials, you will create a repair that has flexibility between the 

substrate and the new pool plaster repair materials. This will absorb the movement from most 

cracks.

Clear Vinyl Liner Repair Sealant 

No patch is usually needed because this sealant becomes a strong, clear patch all 

by itself! Just use your wet hand (with water) as your installation tool! May be 

applied underwater or above water. It repairs cuts, rips, and pinholes. 

Quick and very easy to use, this clear sealant does not burn your eyes, leave a 

residue, or gum-up your hair when applied underwater. Also repairs pool covers, 

plastic skimmer leaks, and pool light fixture leaks. If patch is needed due to heavy 

water flow, large tears, etc., this is

Can E-Z Patch 2 be used to repair any type of Pooldeck textured surface? 

Yes, it can be used to repair any Pooldeck textured surfaces. 

How thick can E-Z Patch 2 be used be applied and can it also be used to fill-in, 

“float out” or level an area? 

E-Z Patch 2 is designed to be applied approx. ¼” without cracking. It can also be 

applied thicker to fill-in an area prior to applying the ¼” texture. Allow the filled-in 

area to dry. Moisten the 

filled-in area with water 

and then apply the final 

¼” layer. 

Any shrinkage cracks 

from the float-out will not 

affect the strength or 

bonding of the repair.

What is “regular Cool-deck”? 

Pooldeck Repairs FAQ’s E-Z PATCH 2 Continued.

Cooldeck“ or “Kooldeck” is a textured cement that is applied over concrete about ¼” thick. It is 

applied using a “Dash Brush” to make the many “peaks” or bumps which you trowel when slightly 

firm to create a “high-low”, knocked down color textured surfaces that (when using light or 

medium color) is cooler on skin & more slip resistant. The texture is then sometimes painted or 

coated for longer life and more stain 

resistance. E-Z Patch 2 is designed to repair 

or re-texture this surface, as well as others. 

What are “Pooldeck Textures”? 

Pooldeck textures are many different types of 

textured cement surfaces usually applied over 

concrete or other cement type surfaces. 

Pooldeck textures include Cooldeck, Lace 

Cooldeck, Simulated Flagstone, Simulated 

Brick, Simulated Tile & etc. 

How can I determine if I have the Stegmeier 

or Mortex cool decking? 

Put some water on your cool deck. The 

Mortex° Kooldeck® will only go slightly 

darker. The Stegmeier Cooldeck will turn darker. Also, on our E-Z Patch 2 colors, each will have 

either a (S) for “Stegmeier” or a (M) for “Mortex”. 

What causes the cracks in my pooldeck and how can I prevent cracking again in the future? 

Ground movement is usually the reason for cracks. Also, if the concrete was not installed thick 

enough, this will create a weak area that will crack. If you apply E-Z Patch 24 Elastic Crack 

Preventer to the area to be repaired after doing the chipping and prep work and before installing

Helps prevent cracks from “re-cracking” and also helps in the prevention of 

caulking “bleed-thru” when painting. 

First, repair the crack in plaster, decks, or coping stones using a cement repair kit 

or acrylic latex caulking. Now, using a paint brush, apply 2 coats of liquid E-Z 

Patch® 24 over the repaired crack for a flexible membrane prior to painting, 

coating, cement texturing pool decking or pool interior plastering to greatly prevent 

re-cracking. Also, you can apply E-Z Patch® 24 prior to repairing cracked areas.

Our special formula bonds better and allows all tiles to be reset flush with the other 

existing tiles, including captile or dry clay tile. Without these properties, it was often 

difficult to complete repairs flush with unrepaired areas. 

Replacing or resetting tiles due to damage or age is a snap with E- Z Patch 3. Our

Neutral Cure 100% Silicone Rubber 

Our flexible neutral cure formula for ceramic tile adhesion/grout and other sealant 

uses. Low odor, UV stable, mildew resistant, and non-corrosive. Excellent bonding 

to cured cement (min. 3 to 4 weeks curing time) surfaces, ceramic tile, fiberglass, 

wood, fiber optics, ABS and glass. Our off white color is low gloss to match regular 

swimming pool white cement tile grout. 

This is the best product for tile & grout repairs.
