20 The campaign for Huron Small class sizes, individual attention from professors and a supportive community environment. Pranks plotted secretly among friends and executed to the astonishment of those not in on the planning. Studying for a liberal arts degree in a truly liberal arts environment, knowing everyone’s names, and realizing the beaver is not only a symbol of Canada but also of the best post-secondary institution in Canada. These elements are ingrained in Huron’s heritage and have remained constant throughout Huron’s history. The Campaign for Huron honours the past while extending a hand to the future to ensure these aspects of Huron’s legacy remain. Instead of focusing on bricks and mortar as previous campaigns have, Touch the Future – The Campaign for Huron is focused on dramatically increasing the College’s endowments to provide a secure, strong and continuing source of funding for College programs and student support including scholarships, bursaries, community-based learning, the Chapel, campus preservation, The Silcox Memorial Library and the Faculty of Theology. Officially ending next April, the Campaign aims to raise $12.5 million. As of October 15, 2010, alumni and friends have generously contributed $10.7 million to the Campaign. The Campaign for Huron includes an interactive Campaign website. Located at http://alumni.huronuc.ca, it features favourite Huron memories, photos, quizzes and more. Through a contribution to The Campaign for Huron, alumni and friends can honour their own experience and extend a unique opportunity to the future to ensure the security and vitality of the College.
