Museum as Ideology Cinema 58 ‘Moderation’ from the series ‘Health Guide’ 1974 Page 40 of 41 59 ‘Taking care of the working people’ from the series ‘Health Guide’ 1975 The black and white film series ‘Health Guide’ was produced from 1974 to 1984 and was designed for evening broadcast television in the East-German GDR. The educative health films of the 1970s combined medical scientific education with practical hints and instructions concerning appropriate personal behaviour. Both films give information on healthy nutrition. 60 Hygiene III, ‘Obesity’ from the series ‘Thousand Tele-Tips’ 1965 The commercials in this series were broadcasted on East-German television from 1960 to 1976. One of the institutions that commissioned these commercials was the Hygiene- Museum. The commercials focused on risk factors such as calorie-rich food or too little exercise.
