Women are the superior sex by
virtually every test except that of
brute strength.
Anytime you think women are
the weaker sex, just consider the
following as published In the
March issue of Cosmopolitan magazine:
Professor S. J. Holmes, a wologist
at the University of Southern-
California says flatly:
"The greater physical toughness
of the female Is characterlatic of
the human species throughout
life."
A prolonged study of 89,190 mentally
Ill patients admitted to Massachusetts
mental hospitals show
that psychotic men out-numbered
the women six to five.
Males Called Unstable Sees
"Males, rather than females, are
the unstable sex," Dr. Nell Dayton,
phychiatrist who made the study,
concludes.
Statistics show that nearly five
times more males than females
die of ulcers; more males, by a
wide margin, are killed by heart
disease, tuberculosis, appendicitis.
pneumonia, and be-beri.
"Of eighteen causes of death listed
by the United States Bureau of
the Census, males were well in the
lead in all but four—cancer. diabetes,
and related disease., childbirth
and senility," the article state.
Men Can't Face Troubles
Of more than 200.000 persons
tracked down by Skip Tracers
company, only 2,000 were women,
according to Daniel M. Eisenberg,
head of the company, who feels
that these figures show men are
far less able to face problems and
responsibilities than women.
Records show that male drug
addicts outnumber women addicts
our to one; male alcoholics outnumber
female alcoholics seven to
ne, and men lead women in 001-
Ides by three to ono
Even driving automobiles, despite
all the jokes about women
drivers, women in one state where
better than men drivers.
Only In the field of the arts and
clences have men shown up better
ham women, and many authorities
elleve this Is due more to lack of
pportunity than a lack of Inbarnt
pecially until Congress acted one
way or the other. He feels that
military training is the only answer
for the present world crisis.
and that everyone is psychologically
with President Truman. There
will be a slackening of interest in
school-work, not only on the part
of young men, but by everybody.
All college officials questioned
said that they were highly in favor
of UMT being combined with
ROTC work, so the young man can
continue with his college education.
President Whyburn went so
far as to say that he believed the
two would be combined.
"Russia knows we are unprepared
for war at this time", he said. "If
we build up our defenses and
strengthen our armed for ces, Russia
will not cause us very much
trouble."
Bill McMillan, 20, navy sub ser-
vice veteran, said. "I think I'll go
back to Africa and get five wives."
No War Soon
Former navy radarman Bill Bigham,
20, said he didn't think the
President's talk would affect him
personally. "I don't believe the
U.S. will go to war for several
years; perhaps not at all," he declared.
"In just two words—I'm drafted,"
stated Bill Evans, 20 year-old
non-veteran.
The chief concern of the veterans
on the campus seems to be
whether or not they will be allowed
time to finsh their education If
recall to the service Is necessary.
The men who have not seen active
duty believe themselves the ones
who will be affected in the very
near future.
"Oh thunder!" cried disgruntled
coed, Jane Merafelder, "There go
all the men off the campus again."
