Join us for "Wiggle & Giggle: Time for Babies", a special time for parents/caregivers to spend with babies (0-18 months) sharing songs and rhymes! This program will support early language play, healthy touch and bonding for parents and their babies. Featuring songs, fingerplays & lullabies, practical tools to soothe and stimulate your baby, this free program is being offered at the Essa Public Library Angus Branch on Mondays, 1-2 p.m. No registration is required, just drop-in! This week we will be serving mini meatloaf with potatoes, vegetables, tea, coffee and dessert for only $10. Angus Santa Claus Parade November 17, 2012 Wow! What a great Santa Claus Parade, complete with terrific weather. The Parade gets bigger and better every year. The enthusiasm from everyone is great, of course everyone waits for the final entry - the ‘big guy’ himself, Santa Claus. Thank you to the Essa Fire Station #2 and the Nottawasaga OPP for their continued support each year. A big thank to the Angus Lioness’ for preparing and serving the food and drinks, their help was certainly appreciated setting up and tearing down, as well as the Girl Guides and their leaders. Barrie Minor Hockey Players support Troops overseas Barrie Minor Hockey Association (BMHA) players gather in front of the boxes they rallied together to fill in time for Christmas. The BMHA will bring Christmas cheer to those actively serving abroad in the Canadian Military. Involved BMHA players personally prepared ‘care packages’. Players also offered Holiday wishes to the troops deployed in other countries for Christmas 2012. and Ron Pridham for supplying cars for dignitaries. Thank to the students who went along the parade route selling reindeer and Santa hats. This money assists with the cost of the Bands. Many members of CFB Borden, in many different units, participated in this year’s Movember campaign. During November each year, Movember is responsible for the growth of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. These Mo-men raise funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives. Movember is expected to be an ongoing initiative at CFB Borden, and therefore, looking forward to the 2013 campaign, a volunteer to spearhead the initiative Basewide is requested so we may track participants, donations raised and of course, the progression of the Mo’s! Anyone interested in volunteering to lead this fun and important initiative are welcome to contact a PSP representative which will be identified next year. De nombreux membres de la BFC Borden issus de différentes unités ont participé à la campagne Movember de cette année. En novembre de chaque année, des milliers d’hommes de partout au Canada et dans le monde se font pousser une moustache en guise de soutien de la campagne Movember. Les moustachus amassent des fonds pour la santé masculine et y sensibilisent la population, plus particulièrement au cancer de la prostate et aux initiatives de santé mentale pour les hommes. La campagne Movember devrait devenir une initiative continue à la BFC Borden. Ainsi, en prévision de la campagne de 2013, nous sommes à la recherche d’une personne qui aimerait diriger l’initiative dans l’ensemble de la Base afin que l’on puisse tenir un registre des participants et des dons recueillis et bien sûr suivre la progression des moustachus! Si vous aimeriez coordonner cette initiative agréable et importante, veuillez communiquer avec un représentant PSP qui seront identifiés l'an prochain. December at the Library / Décembre à la Bibliothèque By: Leighsah Millward-Kyte, Staff Writer The Borden Public Library has been busy planning for the Christmas season. First of all, for all those patrons with that late book you have been dreading returning… dread no more! It’s Christmas Amnesty time! This means that you can bring this overdue item back to the library anytime this month with a non-perishable food donation and the library will overlook your late fees. Please return your items now to make sure our library is well stocked, our food bank gets extra donations and your pocket change gets to stay where it is. On December 1, the library hosted Christmas Craft Corner. This was an event for children aged 5-10 that had them participating in the making of over 11 different crafts. Everything from candy cane reindeer to paper plate Santa masks were crafted by our youngsters. Cette activité proposait aux jeunes une douzaine de bricolages différents, allant des rennes en cannes de bonbon aux masques de père Noël confectionnés à l’aide d’assiettes en papier. Des jeunes se sont relayés continûment pendant toute la journée et se sont bien amusés à fabriquer et à décorer de véritables trésors pour Noël. Afin de créer pour les jeunes bricoleurs une ambiance des Fêtes, musique et films de Noël étaient au rendez vous, de même qu’une maison de pain d’épices que chacun était invité à décorer. Tickets can be purchased at the library for .50¢ up until the day of the draw. The monies raised will be donated to the Share the Spirit Campaign. If you missed the Craft Corner, both the Best Start program and the Tiny Tot reading program will be Christmas focused with stories and crafts relating to the season for the next few weeks. Please don’t forget to take advantage of the overdue book amnesty and help support our community food bank. décembre.
