awards & eveNTs AWARD WINNING Carnival was the big winner in the Recognition for Excellence in Customer Support and Service Awards, which acknowledges those companies that provide superior on-line customer service. Mary Ruiz took home first place in the Best Customer Support Service Agent, Online Community Specialist category, while Online Community Manager Mischelle Beattie Coccera earned second-place honors. Additionally, Carnival’s newly-created Twitter customer service account, @CCLSupport, came second in the Best Online Service Provider category. Great work, guys! 4 seaview fONd fareweLL Carnival Cruise Lines bid adieu to Paul Zacharski, senior vice president of finance and administration, who retired earlier this year after 29 years of service to the company. Paul’s Carnival career began in 1982 when he was named controller for Seachest Associates, Carnival’s former in-house food and beverage division when the company’s fleet consisted of just four ships. After a brief stint with Carnival Corporation, Paul rejoined Carnival Cruise Lines as vice president and controller before being promoted to senior vice president in 2000. Over his nearly three decades of service at Carnival, Paul played a key role in the company’s incredible growth and success and he will be deeply missed. Best of luck in your retirement, Paul! a disTiNGUisHed HONOr Brenda yester, senior vice president of revenue management, has been named the Alumni of the year at the H. Huizenga Business School and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University, where she earned her master’s in business administration (MBA). Pierre, a native of Haiti, joined Carnival Cruise Lines in 1980 when the company had just three ships. But what’s impressive is that Pierre (pictured here receiving his commemorative 30-year anniversary award—a “Fun Ship” replica—from Captain Pierluigi Barrile (right) and Hotel Director Zijad Harcevic (left) has worked on just about every “Fun Ship” in the fleet during his CCL career.
