<strong>TRIBUTE</strong> TO TUNKU <strong>ABDUL</strong> RAHMAN<br />
MALIK bin Abdul Rahman. On the staff of the Malayan<br />
Times, Kuala Lumpur.<br />
M. SARAVANAMUTTU was Editor, Straits Echo, Penang<br />
(1931-1947); Ceylon Commissioner in Malaya (1950-57); Ceylon<br />
Minister to Indonesia (1954-57); Is now retired and living in<br />
Penang.<br />
J.S.H, CUNYNGHAM - BROWN O.B.E. - Retired member<br />
of the Malayan Civil Service, living in Penang; was last President of<br />
the Municipal Councillors, George Town. Hobbies, boating, hillclimbing,<br />
history, drama and painting. Also travels a good deal in<br />
Europe and Asia. Honorary Consular Agent for France and President<br />
of L'Alliance Francaise Penang; Chairman of Malayan Association<br />
of Discharged Prisoners' Aid Societies and serves on various<br />
other committees, local and otherwise.<br />
J. F. AUGUSTUS!.- Joined the Kedah Education Service in 1917<br />
and retired in 1953, on reaching the age-limit. In 1954 the Kedah<br />
Government recalled him to take up the duty post of Asst. Superintendent<br />
of Education, Kedah and Perlis, from which he retired at the<br />
beginning of 1958. In that year he was nominated to be a Member<br />
of the Federal Legislative Council, and in November 1958 he represented<br />
the Federation of Malaya at the Coronation of Pope John<br />
XXIII who made him a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St.<br />
Sylvester Pope. For his public services in Kedah the Sultan appointed<br />
him a Justice of the Peace in 1953.<br />
PAUL MARK AND AN.- Journalist and broadcaster since 1952.<br />
Currently Managing Director of Far Eastern Features Service Ltd.<br />
Has travelled widely in Far East, Pacific, U.S.A. & Canada on duty.<br />
Received the 'Marsha// Award' from the Singapore Union of<br />
Journalists in 1958 for his reports on 'The Shocking Lives of Malayan<br />
Fishermen'. Publications include l The Problem of the New Villages<br />
in Malaya (1955); 'Report on Finance, Commerce & Industry -<br />
Federation of Malaya" (1960) and 'Media Studies on the Far East'<br />
(1962); Television productions include 'Malaya - Land of Color<br />
and Sunshine & "The Ma/ayan Story'- a one hour documentary on the<br />
Emergency in Malaya.<br />
