The batteries main functions in these<br />
systems: are to store the energy produced<br />
by photovoltaic modules during the day and<br />
supply it to the lighting load at night, to<br />
supply the loads with stabile dc voltage (no<br />
fluctuation) and to establish a suitable<br />
operating voltage to maximize the energy<br />
produced by photovoltaic system.<br />
For dc lighting systems using<br />
photovoltaic modules, batteries are subjected<br />
to repeated cycles <strong>of</strong> charging and<br />
discharging. Batteries must resist to these<br />
