The ideas for the first Danish eco-village were formulated <strong>in</strong> 1982.<br />
1988: The <strong>Eco</strong>-Village (EV) buys the farm Dysseldldegard, <strong>in</strong>cl. 13 ha<br />
<strong>of</strong> land, 5 ha <strong>of</strong> which is hous<strong>in</strong>g zone. An untraditional and flexible<br />
district plan is designed with 5 co-hous<strong>in</strong>g groups to f<strong>in</strong>ance the project.<br />
1990: Only 25 members out <strong>of</strong> 110 are ready to f<strong>in</strong>ance the project.<br />
The budget must be reduced to about 15% <strong>in</strong> order to get started.<br />
At last 65 members <strong>of</strong> EV cont<strong>in</strong>ue with the plan.<br />
1991: The first 14 houses are built.<br />
1992: Parents have started a private k<strong>in</strong>dergarten on the farm. Later it<br />
receives municipal support and moves to „Villaro", next to the<br />
farm. The first section <strong>of</strong> 6 apartments for leaseholders is built.<br />
1994: The second section <strong>of</strong> 8 apartments is ready.<br />
1997: There are now about 60 adults and 25 children liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> EV. A<br />
broad spectrum <strong>of</strong> ages, trades and social status is represented.<br />
About half the build<strong>in</strong>g lots have been sold. Membership is open!<br />
From ideas to practical ecology: car<strong>in</strong>g for human be<strong>in</strong>gs, animals,<br />
plants and environment was def<strong>in</strong>ed as the superior common goal - an<br />
