In L928 Leopold Phifip Landsberg and his son NoeI Francis
Landsberg (L9O9-L992, founded a Rockhampton bicycle and notor
parts business called Landsberg Cycle works. Soon after they
began to specialise in bicycles and by L958 when the business
becane Noel Landsberg and Co. it was dealing exclusively in
bicycles. operating from a nu¡nber of premises the business
expanded to include the sale and rental of baby nursery furniture
and equiprnent. By the time operations closed in 1985 over 43r0O0
bicycles had been sold.
Noel Landsberg was involved in numerous community organisations
throughout Rockhampton particularly those relating to cyclíng and
the Presbyterian Church. As an elder of St. Andrew,s Presbyterian
Church he was a me¡nber of the committee which established and
expanded St Andrew's Hospital and was later a trustee of the
hospital. He acted as an agent through which Miss Sophia Munro
donated her estate to the Church. He rúas also a member of the
committee whích founded and built the Munro Homes for the Aged.
