Having completed the National Diploma in Design at the Central School of Arts & Crafts, London, he founded a Graphic Design Company which designed the current National Westminster Bank corporate identity. He then undertook a 153,000 km journey around the world in a VW microbus with his wife, Theresa, through 56 countries over 3.5 years gaining them a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 1979 he began a new career in broadcasting on Local Radio, British Forces Radio, and BBC Radio 2 and 4. He worked briefly for BBC TV South before becoming Head of Radio at the University of the West of England, Bristol, where he also ran a post-graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism. In 1990 he became an Associate Tutor at Ashridge Management College, Berkhamsted, and has a personal Radio archive of 3,000 clips from over four decades of radio around the English-speaking world. His Company, 46 Design, currently offers Media Management and Management Development training courses in the UK and overseas, and has recently published an interactive CD ROM on ‘Handling the Media’. ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SERVICE Moonraker FM (a) Board of Directors Ian Pugh Non-executive Director Home Wiltshire & Cornwall Age 53 Occupation Company Director Other Media Interests: See below Other Directorships BW Limited A graduate of Cranfield Business College, Ian has a strong background in managerial skills; a success record in marketing; a superior knowledge of business commerce; an excellent record in analysis of business statistics and accounts; and is also a competent broadcaster and journalist with an insatiable appetite for current affairs and news. Ian owns homes in both Wiltshire and Cornwall and has done so for over thirty five years. During this time period he has worked in the food preparation industry and has held a managerial position for twenty eight of these culminating as General Manager, controlling Scot Beef with an annual turnover of over £40 million. Following his departure from the food industry, he went on in 1995 to establish an electrical business in Wiltshire which holds several contracts to service major national companies, having a strong foothold in the domestic market place it serves. His involvement with the Radio Industry started in 1991 when he became involved in a community project to set up a small operation in the Market Town of Warminster. The project has grown beyond all belief and continues to embrace a loyal listenership today. Ian has worked for Bath FM and also BBC Wiltshire Sound and most recently as a Director in Moonraker FM overseeing the Restricted Service License Broadcasts which have profitably promoted major local events and shows.
