Quick Start Guide<br />
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONNECTING <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> ANNIVERSARY EDITION TO<br />
YOUR COMPUTER:<br />
M-<strong>Audio</strong> recommends installing the <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> <strong>Anniversary</strong> <strong>Edition</strong> drivers on your PC<br />
or Macintosh computer for access to all advanced <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> features. Drivers can be<br />
downloaded from http://www.m-audio.com. However, if you do not have Internet access,<br />
you can use <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> as a class-compliant device as described in the section below.<br />
The <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> <strong>Anniversary</strong> <strong>Edition</strong> User Guide contains driver installation and MIDI studio<br />
setup instructions, as well as a detailed feature description. Open the electronic User Guide<br />
from the included CD-ROM or from the M-<strong>Audio</strong> website.<br />
Class-compliant operation:<br />
<strong>MIDISPORT</strong> <strong>Anniversary</strong> <strong>Edition</strong> can be used in Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Mac<br />
OS X without installing the M-<strong>Audio</strong> drivers by simply connecting to an available USB port<br />
on your computer. However, please be advised that using <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> <strong>Anniversary</strong> <strong>Edition</strong><br />
without installing the <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> drivers may not give you full access to the interface’s<br />
advanced features.<br />
To use <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> as a class-compliant device:<br />
1. Connect <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> <strong>Anniversary</strong> <strong>Edition</strong> to an available USB port on your computer<br />
using the supplied USB cable.<br />
2. Connect the MIDI output port of your MIDI device (controller, synthesizer, drum<br />
machine, etc.) to one of the MIDI input ports of <strong>MIDISPORT</strong>.<br />
3. Connect one of the MIDI output ports of <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> <strong>Anniversary</strong> <strong>Edition</strong> to the MIDI<br />
input port of your MIDI device (keyboard, synthesizer, sound module, etc.)<br />
4. Configure your MIDI capable music software to use <strong>MIDISPORT</strong> <strong>Anniversary</strong> <strong>Edition</strong><br />
for incoming and outgoing MIDI messages. Some applications will also require you to<br />
select a specific MIDI input and output port for each track used within the software<br />
(please check your software’s documentation for instructions).<br />
