General Auction Disclaimer
The Y has endeavored to catalogue and describe the items and services offered correctly; however,
everything is sold “as is.” Certain auction items and/or services may have restrictions and other
qualifications, which may affect value, application or use of the item. Some items are nontransferable.
Purchases are bound by the price restrictions specified by the donors. The terms are not
negotiable. Please read the specifications and limitations. Items may not be returned or refunded.
The Y makes no expressed or implied warranties or representations of any kind or nature with respect
to the property or services. In no event shall it be responsible for the correctness of the property or
services and no statement in the catalogue, made at the sale or in the bill of sale or invoice or
elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty or representation, or an assumption of liability. By his or
her purchase, the buyer waives any claims of liability against either the Y or the donor of the property
or services and neither the Y nor the donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages to the
property that may result from the utilization of property or services sold.
Values of items being auctioned are donor’s estimates and are not warranted by the YMCA May
Merriment Auction for tax purposes or general value.
Use of trips, hotels, tickets, vehicle use and services are subject to donor’s availability. Please make
arrangements well in advance.
Unless otherwise noted, travel arrangements are not included in the package and are the responsibility
of the buyer.
Please note expiration dates. Items, services, etc., not redeemed within 1 year, unless otherwise
noted, will no longer be valid.
Mattoon Area Family YMCA reserves the right to change, add or remove from either the Live or Silent
Auctions any item it deems appropriate even though the item may have been advertised, listed in the
auction printed catalog or verbally indicated as being for auction.
Donors and/or purchasers of auction items or services should consult their own tax advisor(s)
regarding any questions concerning the possibility of tax deductibility.
Live Auction Rules
1. The live auction begins at 7 p.m. and will continue without interruptions until all items
have been auctioned. Doors will open at 5 p.m., to give you an opportunity to view the
items prior to bidding.
2. To bid in the live auction, the bidder must raise his/her number high and attract the
attention of the auctioneer. This must be repeated each time you initiate or increase the
bid. Each bid legally obligates the bidder to pay the bid price in full if his/her bid is
deemed the high bid by the auctioneer. The auction will be fast-paced and the bids
must be made quickly.
3. Payment by the successful bidder must be made by the end of the evening.
4. When an item has not been displayed, the purchaser will receive a signed “Bearer
Certificate” for the promised gift.
5. Use only the Bid Card assigned to you to bid. Your number is your identification.
6. We accept Visa and MasterCard.
Champagne will be served to the tables who make
overbids in the live auction.
An overbid is any bid that goes over
the listed retail value.
Thanks for your overbids!
Silent Auction Rules
1. Bid number must be entered on the official bid sheets adjacent to each item on the
Silent Auction Tables.
2. Bid sheets MUST NOT be removed from the tables.
3. The Silent Auction Tables will be open for bidding at 5 p.m. Tables will close at the times
posted in the catalog and will be announced during the evening. The closing bid circled
by the YMCA May Merriment Benefit official constitutes the winning bid. HIS/HER
DECISION SHALL BE FINAL.
4. Please pay for your items at the Cashier’s table any time after 9:30 p.m. You may pay
with check, cash, Visa or MasterCard.
5. All items purchased MUST be removed from the EIU Grand Ballroom immediately
following the auction. (Special arrangements for delivery can be made.)
Super Silent Auction
This year we are introducing a new feature called the Super Silent. This silent auction
contains premiere items that will remain open for bidding until 9:00 pm. The Super Silent
Auction is located in the front of the ballroom. A limited number of items are featured in
this section, and we are excited to have this new highlight at our event.
Checkout Procedures
Check out for payment of your auction merchandise will take place in the 1895 Room
outside the Grand Ballroom. You may pay with check, cash, Visa or MasterCard. For
quicker check out, “ePSPay® “ is available. Present your credit card when you check in at
the Registration Table and “ePSPay® “ will electronically capture your credit card
information. All you do is approve your purchases at checkout. The checkout area will
officially open at 9:30 p.m. Thank you for your patience during the checkout process. We
appreciate your support of the YMCA.
