UN Decade of Action for Road Safety
As the leading traffic safety company, we also have
an obligation to the common good. We are therefore
supporting the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety
program which is organizing global campaigns from 2011
to 2020. According to information from the WHO, targeted
traffic safety projects can save up to five million lives and
reduce the number of road traffic injuries by approximately
50 million by 2020.
n State interventions are necessary to monitor compliance
with road traffic rules.
n Products and services for speed and red light violation
detection do an excellent job in this case.
n The risk of punishment has a deterrent effect on
irrational driving behavior.
n The appeal for personal responsibility is initially important.
The legislator is only called upon if self control fails.
n A simple equation applies here: no traffic violation =
no fine.
n Traffic surveillance measures can contribute to saving
5 million human lives and avoiding 50 million severe
injuries by 2020.
n Nobody has a right to drive too fast!
Ranging from compulsory seatbelt wearing for drivers and
passengers, compulsory helmets for cyclists, to prohibition
of alcohol and drugs at the wheel, many successful safety
strategies have been developed. Consequently, a relatively
high level of driving discipline prevails.
The aim is to reduce human, social and economic
repercussions of the world’s greatest health problem.
Good collaboration and acceptance by society are
necessary in order to successfully initiate traffic safety
measures.
