HOMECOMING
By Sarah Waylock
A WEEK OF FUN
This year’s
homecoming activities were
very eventful, filled with
skating, singing, and dressing
up. A lot of Pfeiffer students
participated and brought
homecoming to life in a fun,
safe way.
“I was at all the
events, and I had a blast,”
sophomore Brinkley Johnson
said. “My favorite event was
the lip syncing in the Chapel;
it was funny to see everyone
get so into it.”
Along with the nightly
activities, students could also
show their homecoming spirit
in class. Each day of the
week was something
different, including 80’s day,
Western Day and the 70’s.
Students really celebrated
each day’s theme.
“I didn’t think at first
that many people would
embrace it like they did.”
sophomore Samantha Taylor
said. “It was fun to see
everyone dress up and having
a good time with it.”
For Taylor, greeting
all the alumni was her favorite
homecoming memory.
“There were people I
haven’t seen since last year,”
she said.”Seeing them was
definitely the best part of the
week.”
HOMECOMING:
BACK TO SCHOOL
“PFEIFFER NEVER LEAVES YOU.” -PAT MCKIM CLASS OF ’85.
By Zach Thompson
Homecoming
showcased many events, but
perhaps the most memorable
was the luau dinner. It
featured an outback grill
scene with hamburgers and
hotdogs. On the tables were
leis and small buckets of
sand. To add to the luau
environment, beach music
group The Catalinas played
still loved oldies such as “My
Girl”.
David Melton, Class
of ’76, was excited to be back
on campus.
“The 125th was a
very significant day for all of
the Pfeiffer family,” Melton
said.
Melton has attended
every homecoming since his
first in the 1970s.
“I can’t wait to see
what Pfeiffer has to offer in
the future,” Melton added.
“I love coming to the
homecomings because it
reminds me of my basketball
days,” Jim McDuffie, Class of
’48, said. In his very first
Pfeiffer game, McDuffie
scored a whopping 22 points
and is part of the Pfeiffer
Alumni Hall of Fame.
All in all the
homecoming luau was a
tremendous success.
Classmates old and new were
shagging in front of the band.
It was a chance to renew old
friendships and form new
ones.
“I know people from
here from when I was here
and we keep coming back.
Pfeiffer never leaves you,”
Pat McKim, Class of ’85,
said.
