With regard to the <strong>delivery</strong> of commercials, <strong>RTL</strong> Nederland Sales B.V. will be adopting BBC notation standards for<br />
widescreen <strong>format</strong>s and presentations in other <strong>format</strong>s. Please note that this in<strong>format</strong>ion does not relate to data<br />
carriers, such as Digital Betacam, Betacam SX, or non-linear file <strong>format</strong>s, for example. The BBC notation standards<br />
enable definition of source material and output <strong>format</strong>s with standard and widescreen aspect ratios.<br />
<strong>16</strong>:9 <strong>Full</strong> <strong>Height</strong> <strong>Anamorphic</strong> = <strong>16</strong>F<strong>16</strong> = <strong>new</strong> <strong>delivery</strong> <strong>format</strong>.<br />
Available notation standards<br />
<strong>16</strong>F<strong>16</strong> = <strong>16</strong>:9 material displayed in <strong>16</strong>:9 aspect ratio<br />
12F12 = 4:3 material displayed in 4:3 aspect ratio<br />
<strong>16</strong>L12 = <strong>16</strong>:9 material displayed in 4:3 aspect ratio<br />
12P<strong>16</strong> = 4:3 material displayed in <strong>16</strong>:9 aspect ratio<br />
The following letter notations are also possible:<br />
P= pillarbox<br />
L= letterbox<br />
F= full field<br />
Letterbox (<strong>16</strong>L12) Pillarbox (12P<strong>16</strong>) <strong>16</strong>:9 full screen (<strong>16</strong>F<strong>16</strong>)<br />
In the above example, the notation “<strong>16</strong>L12” refers to letterbox <strong>16</strong>:9 material displayed in 4:3 aspect ratio. This notation<br />
is produced by combining the numbers of the aspect ratio of the source material (<strong>16</strong>:9) with the aspect ratio in which it<br />
is displayed (4:3 =12:9), in Letterbox (L) display. Standard 4:3 (=12:9) material viewed in 4:3 (=12:9) aspect ratio has<br />
the notation 12F12. The notation for standard <strong>16</strong>:9 material displayed in <strong>16</strong>:9 aspect ratio is <strong>16</strong>F<strong>16</strong><br />
